My girlfriend loves watching big fights and I know plenty of other girls who are the same.
Women are always at fights and Boxing has always attracted them, its a glamour thing where they can get dressed up etc.

Actually... talking about women at boxing events.... you see these grainy black and white vids of old fights where it was wall to wall fedoras and smoke filled arenas. Not a woman to be seen. Yet today women make up a great part of boxing fandom. Personally, I've been lucky enough to attend many a boxing event and it's an added bonus to see the women in all their get-up attend these fights. Sure... some of them are there to be seen, even more than to watch the boxing... but there are a lot of female boxing fans.

In ykda's defense, I think he was just trying to make the distinction about women cheering the boxers on, and the ones who can't bear to watch a gruesome ending. But it's a fact that some women (probably some men too) love boxing, but are a bit squeamish about blood or cover their faces upon a brutal knockout. It's not the contradiction you'd think, ykda. They enjoy the sport.... they enjoy the atmosphere... it's just in their nature (sometimes) that if it gets too bloody or there's a brutal beating going on... they tend to recoil a bit at that part of it.

Frankly, it had to be boring as all hell to sit in one of those grainy black and white arenas with all that smoke in your face and nothing but a sea of guys in their hats.
