Mike Tyson has lunch, then the world!

"The Mike Tyson World Tour" made a stop at J-Bella's restaurant in Strongsville, Ohio on Monday afternoon. The event acted as a luncheon and press conference to promote Mike Tyson's exhibition fight against Corey "T-Rex" Sanders on October 20 in Youngstown, Ohio at the Chevrolet Centre.

Attending the press conference was Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs), his trainer Jeff Fenech, promoter Sterling McPherson, junior middleweight Juan McPherson (3-0, 2 KOs) and his trainer Al Jones.

"We are very excited that the 'Mike Tyson's World Tour' is just around the corner," stated the promoter. "Mike and I picked Youngstown because we knew it was a great fight town and Mike is looking to put on a great show for everyone," said McPherson.

Tyson echoed the same comments: "I'm just looking to have fun. If people are expecting some sort of annihilation then they're coming to the wrong show."

Asked if he still considered himself the 'Baddest Man on The Planet,' Tyson replied: "I'm just Mike. I'm just trying to be a good person. I have a lot of pain in me right now from boxing. There is a lot of scum in boxing and I'm sick of it. The people up here," commented Tyson while pointing to Fenech, (Juan) McPherson and (Sterling) McPherson, "are good people and we are looking to put on a great show."

One funny moment came when Tyson announced the wide range of opponents he would like to compete with on the tour. "I would fight women, children, celebrities, you name it." Then the former champion added with a smile: "I'm just looking to have fun. The money that comes in from these fights will go to charities. I'm a big fan of children's hospitals."

"Fight as much as possible," advised Tyson to the young prospect McPherson. "Juan should be fighting every month building up his record. He shouldn't be thinking about sex, women or anything else. Boxing should be his focus."

Promoter Sterling McPherson also commented on Juan: "This kid should have a gold medal right now. I believe that Juan has the talent to become one of the youngest fighters to win a world title"

"Juan's got four fights before the end of 2006," stated Al Jones, the trainer of McPherson. "Right now he's 3-0 and before the end of the year he'll be 7-0. He's got four fights coming up and I'm sure all those wins will be knockouts."

The promotional week continues this week with a public workout on Tuesday in Youngstown followed by a final press conference on Wednesday.

I like what Mike said, it's good he can have fun again. Maybe this isn't the worst thing for him since they aren't there to hurt and stuff like that its a fun event. Best wishes to Mike.

Clever marketing by Juan Macpherson - get into the Latino and the Irish population at once. Clever eh.?

The next big thing will be a yound welterweight called Wang Adullah Jimmy-Cortez Simwanza.

It's not to many fighters out there that can have a world tour and we actually give a bloody rat's ass but Mike is one of them, one of Mikes favorite quotes are " I can masturbate and sell out Madison Square Garden". People love to see the guy, he is the ultimate entertainer.

I got a hundred bucks says Mike completely slips a cog during one of these "exhibitions" and ends up either eating someone's face or killing someone outright.

I love Iron Mike. You will never find a bigger fan. And this is a sad time for me.

That being said, Im interested because I maintain that he cannot hold down this calm chicanery indefinitely. He will snap, and it will be fantastic, and I hope i'm watching when it happens.

I'd like to say I disagree with you completely but sadly I expect that half of those who pay to see one of the fights on his world tour are doing so out of the very same belief

Agreed. Tyson has clearly learned humility and with that has come a greater openness. He has bullshitted noone with this world tour business. What you will see is exactly what he told you you would get.

I hear the merit in your words, but i maintain my original stance. Humility or no, he is what he is. And that is? Unstable. So the pressure cooker is 40 now instead of 20, just give it a little more time is all.

Again, huge Tyson fan. All time favorite and i will defend him to the death. But....it.....is......TYSON.

    Stay tuned, sports fans.

You claim to be a Tyson fan and then you say "He will snap and it will be fantastic".

You are an utter moron. It would make you happy to see a favourite boxer implode?

Your user name clearly reflects your lack of intelligence....

Tyson will dissapoint you badly on this world tour methinks!
