Agreed...Actually I would pick him against any of them but Wlad...He would out box Maskaev and Lychovich ( however you spell it) and would not be stupid enough to stand and try to trade with Valuev like Barrett...He is slick enough to out manuver him in what would be the most boring HW title fight in history...I always agreed that as a cruiserweight he would have been awsome...Would even have a little more firepower....A division he could have ruled a long time in...Of course for a fraction of the money he made at HW
I don't know man he looks like a slo-mo version of his former self, there is no way he went into the fight of Wlad with the intention of trading.
Byrd's day as a Heavyweight contender is past, IMO. This is not just based on the Wladdy fight either, he looked slow and barely beat DaVarryl Williamson and Jameel McCline.
He beat DaVarryl williamson easily, because DaVarryl would not engage him.
That kinda emphasizes the point right? If Davarryl would have just opened up and let loose, he would have picked up more rounds. Although I almost fell asleep on that one.
If DaVarryl had he would have been countered. But Byrd was trying to move forward and make a fight and DaVarryl backed off from him. So them booing Byrd really wasn't needed, he was TRYING to make the fight and DaVarryl wouldnt do it.

Coudn't care less. Byrd's a good boxer, and showed great ring prowess a few years back, but Im not into boxing to watch guys like Byrd. Guys with no power and great defense. Byrd and Ruiz can both share a canoe to some far away island and disappear forever with no harm done. He's never given me a reason to show love.

Any other heavyweights in the habit of fighting opponents with skill that outweigh them by over 50 pounds?

But what does that make him? Courageous? Ok. Not sure it changes anything, though. The key word here is "heavyweight" and to win hearts at that weight, you have got to be the total heavyweight package, not a slick, counterpunching, light-fisted, defensive craftsman. He is uninspiring.

    Stike that

How many FORMER Middleweights are facing people who outweigh them by about 50 pounds and beating them? He freaking stood toe to toe with McCline and you didn't think that fight was entertaining?

Uninspiring only to those who cannot respect skill overcoming might.

I suppose you can take partial credit for that, you and those of you who hold Tua in some unnecessarily lofty section of the boxing greatness realm. Any others?
