I must confess I felt the same after declining to watch it for ages. Was very well made and gave insights to historic events and the early life of the Queen and Phil who was quite the action man in his youth. He did make me laugh a few times with his dry sarcastic lines.
Just watched the moon landing episode in series 3.
Give it a go gents. I think you'll be surprised
