He started boxing in his early 20s, was a failed sprinter/athlete, the Olympics was his dream, I remember him saying he had no intention of being a pro-boxer.
Hopefully his feet were faster than his hands
Joyce is big. He seems much too big for a sprinter. Maybe he was much slimmer before.

Great fight. The press conference is gonna be dull as shit though. The jaw-twisting boredom of the fight build-up will only be compensated by the intrigue over who beats whom on this. Dubois looks like one of those guys who when you get your phone out they ask "Any good games on there ?"

Gun to my head ? I'd pick Dubois but joyce strikes me as the kind of fighter who takes a couple years off your career when you fight him. Just a relentless slugger who can hit hard and is hard to discourage. He's bit like Hopkins in that he's better than he looks.

Not been all that impressed by Joyce in all honesty. Seems slow and plodding, but no doubt an awkward big lump for most out there.

I like the development of Dubois so far though and he certainly caries big power. Can seem very wild and raw at times, but I think he could find Joyce at some point and get him out of there.

Seems pretty risk free for the younger man as if he was to lose he can learn and bounce back, whereas Joyce doesn't have that time on his hands and is seemingly well enough ranked to find some "bigger" and less risky fights at the fringe world/contender level.

Joyce's manager Sam Jones has recently said thie fight is getting close to being signed and BT Sport are teasing it could be at the O2 arena.

Surely Dubois will have to step up eventually and yes being younger he can take his time or he can test himself right away. I think this is 50/50 I tend to side more with Joyce winning because although he's slow as molasses in February with his hands he's a better technical boxer whereas Dubois can leave himself open by being a little more wild.

I worry for Dubois IF he's sparked out cold that his career might be ruined much like a David Price ruined his career. Dubois has to focus on his defense even though he's a big puncher...that might be a difficult ask for a young fellow like him. It would be brilliant for his development if he were to hone and utilize those skills though....always ending off a hook or jab, keeping those hands up and chin tucked, tying up or pushing off when he's close to "no man's land" or the footwork is a little off, these are CRITICAL for a young fighter to learn.

In my view not enough young fighters attempt to get a "reset" from the ref when they are either in "no man's land" or not in a good comfortable rhythm with their opponent. A round is 3 minutes, take your time, tie up a time or two...not every time you're sizing each other up does one need to throw punches. Use the referee to your advantage as a fighter, he calls the breaks so know when to initiate a clinch and know when to push off or break a clinch early...Vitali Klitschko was very good at that, Mike Tyson was good at that, Evander Holyfield was good at that, George Foreman was good at that, Bernard Hopkins and Floyd Mayweather Jr are probably the best at it in recent memory.....it's a veteran move and although if it's done too much it's boring as shit, but I'll be damned if it isn't effective in #1 helping a fighter establish their rhythm AND #2 taking their opponent out of their rhythm. If Dubois chooses to fight Joyce SMART then I think the sky is the limit for him.

Dubois has the potential to be a better fighter than Joyce. Triple D jab is excellent and he is moving around the ring better far quicker now.

Still think Joyce would work him over now but given more time Dubois wins.

Do you think they should wait for this to be made then? I like the fight but I wouldn't mind if it was either made as the next fight or we wait it out a year before they go at it.

It depends which corner I was in.

If I was Joyce, I would want it now as Joyce will not get better but has enough to beat Dubois. His chances of winning will recede the further away the fight is as he is also getting older.

Dubois should continue getting more fights under his belt and getting even bigger exposure.

As a fan I would love the fight now, this year but I think Warren may delay if for the reasons I stated.
