I will check out Alessandro Nesta again but for some reason he did not stand out for me.
Bobby Moore putting the tackles in 66 and 70 world cups were quality too.

Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Good thread, Lyle.
I'd say Bo Jackson for me. That rare individual that can play not one, but TWO professional sports at a high level. He could've been one of the greatest running backs in the NFL..... and he was a bonafide major league baseball star.
Unfortunately his career was cut short by that freak injury playing football. An injury that doctors said only became that severe because of Bo's own strength in trying to run through a tackle where others would've just gone down.
I saw a documentary on him and some of the plays he made in both sports make up a long highlight reel of his careers.
Former Undisputed 4 belt Prediction champion. Still P4P and People’s Champion.
I remember watching that live and you could just tell. Like when a tackler wraps a guy up low and Bo turned into it going down and just lay there. He later said a lot of the lasting damage was due to resetting his own hip, right there and then . Even with hip replacement it was amazing he managed come back with the White Sox but never to really excel again and seem to recall him doing a lot of DH. Truly a great cut short on the field(s).
