Hmmm nice comments
Never liked the way he arrogantly called fighters "bums" and "cowards" ... and Steve Kim getting his foot in the door over the past year makes sense.

Link above is entitled: ESPN.com Removes Criticism of Shannon Briggs from Dan Rafael Chat Transcript
Dan Rafael wished that Briggs' fight against Vitali Klitschko, in which the Brooklyn native took a vicious, career-ending beating that put Briggs in a German hospital for two weeks., "went 15 rounds," instead of the usual 12.
one poster replied that remark "wasn't very nice."
"It wasn't meant to be," Rafael responded.
He did win a few awards for his craft. Personally I wasn't into his personal favorites, which IMO he made it known, whereas a Max Kellerman tried to pass his personal picks as facts.
I will give Dan credit for introducing me to Mahyar Monshipour vs. Somsak Sithchatchawal. Just perusing the website and Fat Dan was like...so you don't know these guys, they aren't marquee names, but do yourself a favor get it. The commentating is in French, who cares. The fight is so great every so often you will learn French when they keep saying ooh-la-la. LMAO!
Well I am paraphrasing because I cant find the that article. But I took a chance, watched it and Yup, if Dan did anything right by me- it was that fight.
All's lost! Everything's going to shit!
Yes good riddance, he was useless and an annoying fat fuck imo.. Also grated me that he was so quick to rag on fighters when he would have died of cardiac arrest trying to do any kind of athletic endeavour.
I dunno, I didn't mind either Fat Dan or Max. Though Dan def comes off as more a bloviating suit trying to bury his nose in the cheeks of the party line or favs and disregarding anything else. Never really put much stock into disliking him as if I disagreed or thought it nutty I just stopped reading. I'll admit to apparently being one of the few who like Max more. Sure he's a wide eyed dork glued to stat books, maybe takes 'stories' as cemented historical facts and repeats himselfbut he goes way back and earned his way through. I just wonder if this is another step off the ESPN boxing front. Fat Dan was fat, probably smells like burned sausage and glued to a script but kept some wheels turning on dates, events etc. Just hope ESPN doesn't try to feed in some Ufc/boxing blend 'journalist'. They can do both.
