The U.S. is huge and diverse. Tough to compare NYC to the rural South. Or even NYC and Boston, for that matter. Younger generations do seem to be dropping some of the nauseating ignorance of their forefathers, though.

The problem is that much of the establishment: law enforcement, housing and loans, education, and others.... still retain remnants of the institutionalized racism that was the standard for the last few hundred years.

All can be honky-dory in the streets with people loving each other and having giant hug-fests.

But until meaningful systemic changes occur....... it's all window-dressing and feel-good moments until the next George Floyd.
