The last couple of posts bring up right-wing extremism.... thus enhancing and supporting the opening post of this thread.
Exhibit A... a quote from my opening post: "Extremists on both sides need to get a grip."
Non-extremists such as "moi" can observe events without the tinted glasses worn by extremists on both ends. We usually can only watch in wonderment how people "rush to their assigned pole" to take up their weapons and commence fire.
Another phenomenon that occurs with us non-extremists is that normally... extremists will pat us on the back when we lean toward their side on a particular issue.
But lean the other way ever so slightly... and you become "ignorant", "the enemy", "polarized in the other extreme", "a hater"....... take your pick.
I personally bask in my position as a non-extremist. It allows me the clear lens through which to look at everything and make informed, logical, productive opinions and decision.
Hence my opinions on the current racial issues..... condemning police racial profiling and brutality, while being against the "knee-jerk" reaction of wanting to de-fund the police.
Which is why I'm totally in favor of prohibiting the Confederate flags at NASCAR events, but caution against the indiscriminate and uncontrolled tearing down of statues.
Which is why I would totally support grassroots racial equality efforts like reforming public school funding..... but completely scoff and facepalm at changing the Aunt Jemima brand name and logo.
I'm gonna take the opportunity in this post to give all sorts of credit to Lyle, who although diametrically opposed to my views on many a subject...... has had the decency and even common courtesy to accept (and even "Like") some of the posts where I've stated my opinion in a well thought-out manner.
