Yeah that word does not fit due to the connotations that it A) was "unlawful" and B ) doesn't take note of the fact that Bin Laden was at war with the United States.
I mean I wouldn't say "Mussolini was murdered" I would use "assassinated" the result might be the same, but the meaning of the words are different. I wouldn't say "Muammar al-Gaddafi was murdered" I'd say "assassinated". I wouldn't say "Alfred Jodl was murdered" and I wouldn't say "Alfred Jodl was assassinated" I'd say "executed". All those people died, but murdered?
But hey, maybe you don't think that the definitions of words matter and that's fine. I disagree, but hey you can take or leave that too.
