It's an interesting one to monitor, and I suppose he will be something of an unknown quantity in that regard.
We know on a good day he has fast hands and can box well, and can punch with stoppage power.
Motivation is the key factor you'd imagine, but if he could get up for it there's still some pretty decent big money fights for him. Whyte, Povetkin, Hunter, Ortiz, Wilder

Good points. Perhaps he wont "go Buster" on himself. Perhaps he can come back and make a good showing or even better. If for nothing else than to make up for that lard-ass performance and go out on a good note.

I like Hunter. He did well with Povetkin, as Spicoli said it was a coin toss. I think he'd do well with Wilder for as long as he can stay in the fight. Faster, better technical skills. But he's just short of the best of the best and that's the ones Wilder generally gets to sooner or later.

There is a Wilder every other generation in boxing. A HW who is the epitome of a puncher's chance. Only he is the top echelon.
Just as guys like Holmes, Ali & many more stated Shavers was the hardest hitter of their era, yet he outboxed no one and when he got tired, he flung & whaled away. 68kos out of 74 is what history tells us of him- and the "He shook my kinfolk in Africa quote from Ali. Or the highlight of Holmes rising from his KD. Few talk of him getting stopped 7 times, fighting 24 years & never won a major title.

While David Tua actually had a bit of skill he was THE HW puncher's fighter of his era. Peep this: When he took on Ibeabuchi @ 27-0 ---25 of those fights averaged 3 rounds.
21 years as a pro all he ever claimed was World Boxing Council International Heavy Title & The USBA


Wilder is not lucky. In any era he would've knocked more than a few high profile boxers the (F) out. I see him for what he is; a fighter who can beat the BEST defensive fighter; with one frigging shot. & I enjoy watching it!

I think deontay Wilder is just like a Michael Grant....

I saw too many of his opponents just standing against the ropes with their hands up in a peekaboo style right in his punching range and take punch after punch until he pounds them down unconscious
