100% true, Archie was very articulate and well-spoken and he was a man of letters. A very interesting guy who used to study all subjects under the sun and he even spent time in Australia with the Aborigines to learn special diets and special healing properties of plants and foods.

I saw an interview with Archie Moore from the 1990s and he was still very articulate and well spoken and he did not slur his words or show any sign of damage at all

A real dogged, hard-fought, tough fight between Bob Satterfield (Marciano said he should have been Champ one day) and Rex Layne who had just knocked out a 34 year old Joe Walcott. Rex Layne at that time was 45-1 and the winner of this fight was to fight Marciano, who would then fight Charles for the Championship, but Walcott wound up shocking Charles a few months later to win the title.

Correct. I was watching a bit of an old Joe Louis talk while watching this and mixed up the two. Truth be told I can't say I remember how Archie Moore talked, only watched his fights not interviews.
But that 9th round, I just watched it again, my lord Archie was in the frying pan with the heat turned up, grease poppin!

Marciano with both barrels blazing is a thing of awe to watch. He threw 770 punches in 8 rounds in that fight, then in 1 + minute of the 9th and final round he threw 46 punches.
