Rocky Marciano took a battering for the ages against Walcott. That first round would've sparked anybody, but not The Rock.

If Williams Liston were on a dessert menu, it would be a gourmet treat! Totally shows how under rated Liston was as a polished fighter. I saw an interview of Liston who stated his fight with Williams is what gave him the confidence he could beat anybody.

Liston: "Cleveland Williams was a good fighter, very strong, he had muscles everywhere. Muscles coming out his ass"
I think he was the 1st boxer I ever heard curse (from old era)

I fear Archie's cognitive abilities were the result of not just his career overall, but that final round, my goodness, Rock is unloading nonstop, throwing his weight behind every shot.

And Archie was still trying to time him, he nailed Rocky with two really powerful straight right punches right on the button, but Marciano just acted like he didn't feel it

100% true, Archie was very articulate and well-spoken and he was a man of letters. A very interesting guy who used to study all subjects under the sun and he even spent time in Australia with the Aborigines to learn special diets and special healing properties of plants and foods.

I saw an interview with Archie Moore from the 1990s and he was still very articulate and well spoken and he did not slur his words or show any sign of damage at all

A real dogged, hard-fought, tough fight between Bob Satterfield (Marciano said he should have been Champ one day) and Rex Layne who had just knocked out a 34 year old Joe Walcott. Rex Layne at that time was 45-1 and the winner of this fight was to fight Marciano, who would then fight Charles for the Championship, but Walcott wound up shocking Charles a few months later to win the title.
