If spit or floating mist from a sneeze, cough, shouting can land on a mask, the mask will surely reduce the likelihood of it being absorbed by mucous membranes. ANY reduction is worthwhile. I would say it reduces inhalation and viral loads floating and being inhaled thru your nose and mouth atleast 70%. No way is every single time a particle going to penetrate perfectly and that you are going to absorb it. A mask will surely block a good portion of it. It doesnt have to be perfect. Who wouldnt take even a 50% reduction in absorption? Its common sense. Walking thru where a person has just sneezed without a mask, have you ever seen hydrophotography of the mist of saliva hanging in the air for up to 3 minutes? I've seen documentaries on that since the late 80's FFS, it hangs there suspended for several minutes... then if you walk thru that cloud of droplets without a mask, you sure as HELL will be absorbing whatever is in that mist of saliva. A mask will sure as HELL block atleast SOME percentage of it, must be a good 50%, and thats well worth doing. Sunglasses will further stop a cloud of spit or mist of saliva droplets generated from shouting, coughing, sneezing from ENTERING DIRECTLY INTO YOUR EYE AS YOU WALK THRU IT. We're talking in buses, trains, offices, shops, bars here, not talking outside on a football field jogging around a track with NOBODY in sight.

answer this question honestly.... (why do I think I will not get any honest answers here.... well, I could be proven wrong and get an honest answer, we'll see...)

if you had to get coughed on or sneezed on directly into your face from even 3 feet away, as an experiment......., and you knew the cougher or sneezer had COVID or SARS or some really potent disease...... and if you would lose all your life savings if you get infected by it.......would you wear a mask or not?

Yes, you would wear a mask, because you wouldnt take the chance with all your life savings. Means what? Means that you KNOW a mask will reduce your chances even a little bit (or a lot). Thats what it means. Dont deny it.

Again, I dont expect any honest answers here. But hey, thought I'd try to get a few.
