That's a bad example. Tyson fouls. But the ref's take points away from his ass. When has Hatton gotten points taken away?

Trinidad fought, Joppy, Hopkins, Cherifi, Mayorga and Winky Wright in one stretch.

Hatton and Calzaghe need to get off their derrieres and stop trying to claim a legacy on one great opponent.

Tito fought those names over a period of what 4/5 years? That leaves Hatton about 3 years to get Cotto or Mayweather in the ring. Win or lose Hattons resume over the same time frame will blow Tito's out of the water, no?

There can be no defending Calzaghe really. He should have forced the issue like Hatton did and given himself the chance at better fights.

    Lewis was right to retire.

I wouldn't go that far and call Calzcrappy a bum. He's more of a coward.

You know by your logic Viloent Demise; a country in Africa would have far the tougher boxers as thier street as they are much tougher than the United States because of civil wars, riots, etc.

The fight that is most demanded for Calzaghe is Kessler. And Calzaghe is not interested. The fight that was most demanded for Hatton was Floyd Mayweather or Vivian Harris, but Hatton thought he would have gotten an easy win over Collazo.

I don't know if its a British thing, but why don't British fighters start stepping up to the plate. There was a time when Trinidad fought Vargas, Joppy and Hopkins in one stretch. There was a time when Hopkins fought Taylor twice then went on to fight Tarver. There was a time when Oscar fought Vargas, Sturm, Hopkins and Mayorga, all in one stretch.

British fighters need to put up or shut up. And if Calzaghe or Hatton don't fight anyone of credibility anytime soon, I will consider them fakes.
It's a pretty much known fact that British fighters aren't as tough as American fighters. Growing up in the streets of let's say London (do cops have guns?) like Nigel Benn claims is no where near as dangerous as growing up in the streets of Detroit. Like James Toney did. Not only that most British fighters are seriously overrated by the British public. So they get really protected. Easy opposition. Bogus titles. Bias referee. All that S*** is not provided for them in America.
You don't have to go across the pond to find fighters fighting easy opposition, bias judges and referess, and bogus titles....

Agreed...I used to think that it was the hometown guy that the judges gave the nod to but here there is really no hometown guy...It is who ever is the biggest draw at that fight...I am convinced...

So not the hometown guy in reference to geography but the home town guy in terms of 'at the fight' popularity??

Come on Violent Demise - maybe you are just being provocative (!)

To look at a few people and then extrapolate their behaviour to make judgements about an entire country is exactly what some idiots do about America. All those stupid stereotypes about banjo-playing inbreds, or fundamentalist Christian maniacs, perverted serial killers, or obese lazy thickheads are no more true than your assertion that all British fighters (and therefore people) foul, get gift decisions and are cowardly.

    You know that's not true.

Anyway, I am about to put my bowler hat on, roll up my umbrella and stroll down the road in my pinstriped suit, so that's all for now

Also, I don't think many boxers are cowardly - even if I don't like them, I respect their bravery for just getting in the ring.
