As for the orders themselves, I can definitely say the Obamacare one is very good. Trump had only tried to wipe it out because he's always hated Obama for being a better speaker than him... but Trump never came up with a viable alternative and thus basically wasted four years of citizens' time, especially those who really needed the benefits from something like Obamacare. After four years of Trump vindictiveness, it was only natural that ol' Biden was going to pay him back with some of his own medicine.

It'll taper off, I believe... and Biden will go about the business of running the country and hopefully Trump will slink back into the woodwork.

There's nothing vindictive about any executive order Biden signed. Almost all of them are related to the pandemic including the one allowing people who've lost their jobs/healthcare to sign up for Obamacare coverage.

You really think Trump is going to go away quietly? Are you following the news?

Trump will only remain relevant as long as his cronies and fans make him relevant.

Also... if you want to argue about the "vindictiveness" of Biden's executive orders... go for it. All I know is if Trump hadn't been such a divisive, horse's ass of a President, Biden wouldn't have felt compelled to sign close to 50 Executive Orders in his first seven days.

But you're wrong about "almost all of them are related to the pandemic."

In the first seven days of Executive Orders and Memorandums with directives, more than half of them were not related to the pandemic (25-18, to be exact).

So because his fans are Trump fans rather than Republicans and there are more Trump supporters out there than Republicans then clearly he's going to dominate the GOP for the forseeable future, no?

The way you put it it's like Trump is history and if those wacky Republicans can just forget about him and get on with setting out a new moderate right wing approach things can go back to normal.

Well it's not going to happen. The GOP politicians are terrified of their voters. Due to gerrymandering and the way GOP voters are geographically distributed the vast majority of GOP pols aren't worried about elections, they can't lose. They're worried about primaries. And if they go against Trump they're going to be facing a primary in 2022 if they're congresscritters or in two to six years if they're senators.

Now it might not be Trump who is the cult leader when they're next facing a primary. It might be the Jewish space laser lady or the My Pillow guy. But the voters are going to demand fealty to the cult leader or they'll be out on their arse and that informs the state of current GOP politics. It means they have to support outright crazy shit that they know is crazy shit or they'll get the boot.

It's true that Biden has had to sign so many executive orders due to the radical policies of the recently departed disgraced ex president so he shouldn't really face criticism for it. The thing is the GOP have little to work with at the minute so they're throwing anything they can at him.
