just because it was close... and it would have been way less close if ricky had more then 5 odd weeks to make weight and keep the muscle and stamina he has whilst on top of his game...
most camps are around ten weeks and half of his camp was spent making 140 pounds to fight juan lazcano at 140 before juan pulled out with an injury!!
ricky just said... right i need a fight and quick.. ricky if you can make wieght here is your shot at bieng two weight world champ! and he needed a fight for his scheduled bout on hbo so he took it, it was close and he won it... back down to 140 where he is the man and where he intended on staying...
where as floyd in his last three fights has fought gatti for the lww title.. (the man who didnt beatthe man)
then fought sharmba mitchell... a tough guy but there was no danger in the fight and floyd breezed through him...
and then fought zab who i respect as a fighter but he still had one title that they let him keep after his loss to baldomir because they had already been setting up a title bout with floyd and nobody expected carlos to beat him.. so he wasnt the man either...
so not only is it floyd that is the one moving away from hatton.... but he hasnt done much to impress hatton into making the fight with him... so ricky asks this much money because he has fought three good opponents in his last three fights...
and floyd says no thats the money only floyd mayweather makes even though he has fought three safe fights...
props to floyd for taking the baldomir fight but in my opinion neither fighter is scared of one another ... neither is majorly more impressive then the other... but if anyone has more claim to the other not wanting to fight its hatton!!
peace
Man please. Hattons first 38 fights were "safe fights" and so were his last 2. Maussa and Collazo.Floyd has fought and beat better fighters in his first 4 years than hatton probably ever will. Please. Hatton does not wanna fight floyd. If he did he would not have turned him down 3 times. And who does hatton think he is asking for 13m. Thats de la hoya money. He knew he wasn't getting it so thats why he asked.

As far as hatton moving back down to 140. Thats a chump move. I say that cause he got run out of the division by luis collazo of all people.I'm tired of hearing all these excuses about how much tme he had. He trained for 7 weeks when a fighter only needs 6 weeks so the time shouldn't matter and also he was only moving up 7 pounds. Now i know in boxing 7 pounds means alot but not when your coming down from 170. If anything he should of felt stronger because he didn't have to drain as much. But then he struggles with a opponent everyone thought was a gimme. This all leds me to one simple conclusion: Hatton isn't as good as some people think. If you can't successfully move up 1 class while your contempararies move up 2 and 3 classes(floyd) and are successfull then what does that say about his skill level? That hes good but only at 140 pounds. If thats the case then he ain't pound for pound.
