A draw isn't too bad. When I heard split decision I thought definitely Charlo gets it. Steve Weisfeld was trying to get Charlo level on his card and gave him the tenth round ten eight and still couldn't do it.

American fighters owe so much to the US economy. You've got to wonder how well Charlo would have done in some minging bear pit sports hall in Buenos Aires.

Charlo should have won the fight he had all the physical advantages. He fought a timid fight overall and was not busy enough to have got the decision.

Charlo hurt Castano in the 2nd round with a left hook that wobbled him but Castano came back to win the subsequent rounds even hurting Charlo with 2 big left hooks in the 3rd round. By round 9 Castano was winning the fight by being the busier and aggressive fighter.

Charlo turned the fight in the 10th with huge left hooks that battered Castano and could have been a 10-8 round because he was that dominate. Charlo won the last 2 rounds to make it a draw for me 6-6.

The judge that gave it 9-3 needs to leave boxing.

Good contest and there should be a rematch.

Terence Crawford mocks Jermell Charlo after controversial draw with Brian Castano

Terence Crawford could not resist a cheeky dig at Jermell Charlo following his controversial draw with Brian Castano in San Antonio on Saturday.

It looked almost certain that Argentinian 'El Boxi' Castano (17-0-2, 12 KOs) was on course to deliver a stunning upset and capture the WBC, WBA and IBC super-welterweight titles in style as well as maintain his unbeaten record.

However, the fight was controversially awarded a split-decision draw, with judge Nelson Vazquez bizarrely scoring it 117-111 in favour of American 'Iron Man' Charlo (34-1-1, 18 KOs).

The result was met by a loud chorus of boos from boxing fans in the AT&T Center.

"A draw isn't what I wanted to hear," Charlo said in his post-fight interview.

"I won this fight. I hurt him a lot more. My power is serious. I had him in trouble in the second and 10th rounds.

"This is my first time experiencing something like this. This comes with boxing - wins, losses and draws."

Unsurprisingly, Castano disagreed with Charlo's assessment, as he felt he had done enough to deserve the victory.

"I won the fight, there were some rounds that he hit me hard, but I won the fight," he said.

The result means that Charlo has lost his three-fight winning streak - and Crawford made reference to the latest judging controversy with a tongue-in-cheek tweet.

He wrote on Twitter: “I been gone for a min but @TwinCharlo last night is the reason you not on the p4p list sir. Gotta do better."

But Twitter user @East_Texan86 questioned Crawford's criticism, saying he should keep his mouth shut because he hasn't fought anyone of any note.

He tweeted: "Charlo fights Castano for undisputed you fought weak ass Indongo....see the difference?"

The American superstar hit back, saying: "Yeah I do one had 3 belts and beat two champions back to back in they hometown to get this belts one just had one you right I do see the difference."

In another tweet, he wrote: "He good but before the fight you see how nobody gave him a chance now they calling him the best in the division."

He added: "If that’s all I’m fighting I’m show making it look easy."

Speaking to Complex on Friday, Charlo lashed out at the media complaining about favouritism towards certain athletes while citing Gervonta Davis' recent victory over Mario Barrios.

He said: “You have some guys on the pound-for-pound list, high up, that haven’t fought in two years. That’s why I can’t even care about the pound-for-pound list. My mind is set on my goals and trying to get this victory this weekend and let my hands fly.”

“I’m like not really interested in the pound-for-pound list because I don’t even know who operates or makes this list. It’s just weird to talk about something that’s not even a real thing.

“Bro, Gervonta Davis just fought and they didn’t put him on the pound-for-pound list. He just won and beat somebody in a different weight class and they didn’t give him nothing. Man, I don’t care about that list.”

Canelo Alvarez reacts to Jermell Charlo vs Brian Castano controversial split draw

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has given his verdict on Jermell Charlo's fight with Brian Castano following their controversial draw in San Antonio on Saturday.

Charlo (34-1-1, 18 KOs) caught Castano napping on two occasions during the fight but the Argentine appeared to have done enough to win on points.

Charlo, who claimed after the contest that he had 'won this fight' and 'hurt him a lot more', refused to rule out the possibility of a rematch with Castano.

And Charlo's co-promoter Al Haymon has also said that the Louisiana native wants to put right the wrongs against Castano.

But Canelo Alvarez has hit back at Charlo's claims and suggested that Castano was robbed of victory after his undisputed clash against Charlo was declared a split-decision draw.

"Brian Castano, I'll tell you one thing. For me, you won," Canelo said on a FaceTime call with Castano on Monday.

"They [the judges] saw a draw, but for me, you won, you b------, what a great fight.

"I congratulate you very much."

Castano replied by saying: "Thank you very much, brother."

Although not yet officially confirmed, Mexican Alvarez looks set to take on undefeated American IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb Plant in September.

The 31-year-old has also previously expressed an interest in facing Charlo's identical twin brother Jermall Charlo after the American beat Juan Macias Montiel last month.

“Jermall Charlo’s time is coming. I’m focused on Caleb Plant first," he said. ”It’s almost time for Jermall Charlo and Canelo Alvarez to fight.

Speaking on the DAZN Boxing Show, Sergio Mora said the sky is still the limit for Mexican fighter Alvarez.

Canelo currently occupies top spot on GIVEMESPORT's latest pound-for-pound rankings.

The former super-welterweight champion believes the 31-year-old is quite capable of beating both light-heavyweight champions Artur Beterbiev and Dimitry Bivol.

“That fight with [Sergey] Kovalev was a calculated risk,” said Mora.

“If he fights Beterbiev it’ll just be a flat-out dangerous risk, but that's what Canelo likes to do. He likes to surprise boxing, but with the biggest fans and give the fans what they want.

“Whenever people talk about fighters, champions not giving the fans the fight they deserve. This is what they're talking about.

“I’ll become comfortable with either Triple B - Beterbiev, Bivol, [David] Benavidez, either way, Canelo does take on the best.”
