just because it was close... and it would have been way less close if ricky had more then 5 odd weeks to make weight and keep the muscle and stamina he has whilst on top of his game...
most camps are around ten weeks and half of his camp was spent making 140 pounds to fight juan lazcano at 140 before juan pulled out with an injury!!
ricky just said... right i need a fight and quick.. ricky if you can make wieght here is your shot at bieng two weight world champ! and he needed a fight for his scheduled bout on hbo so he took it, it was close and he won it... back down to 140 where he is the man and where he intended on staying...
where as floyd in his last three fights has fought gatti for the lww title.. (the man who didnt beatthe man)
then fought sharmba mitchell... a tough guy but there was no danger in the fight and floyd breezed through him...
and then fought zab who i respect as a fighter but he still had one title that they let him keep after his loss to baldomir because they had already been setting up a title bout with floyd and nobody expected carlos to beat him.. so he wasnt the man either...
so not only is it floyd that is the one moving away from hatton.... but he hasnt done much to impress hatton into making the fight with him... so ricky asks this much money because he has fought three good opponents in his last three fights...
and floyd says no thats the money only floyd mayweather makes even though he has fought three safe fights...
props to floyd for taking the baldomir fight but in my opinion neither fighter is scared of one another ... neither is majorly more impressive then the other... but if anyone has more claim to the other not wanting to fight its hatton!!
peace
Man please. Hattons first 38 fights were "safe fights" and so were his last 2. Maussa and Collazo.Floyd has fought and beat better fighters in his first 4 years than hatton probably ever will. Please. Hatton does not wanna fight floyd. If he did he would not have turned him down 3 times. And who does hatton think he is asking for 13m. Thats de la hoya money. He knew he wasn't getting it so thats why he asked.

As far as hatton moving back down to 140. Thats a chump move. I say that cause he got run out of the division by luis collazo of all people.I'm tired of hearing all these excuses about how much tme he had. He trained for 7 weeks when a fighter only needs 6 weeks so the time shouldn't matter and also he was only moving up 7 pounds. Now i know in boxing 7 pounds means alot but not when your coming down from 170. If anything he should of felt stronger because he didn't have to drain as much. But then he struggles with a opponent everyone thought was a gimme. This all leds me to one simple conclusion: Hatton isn't as good as some people think. If you can't successfully move up 1 class while your contempararies move up 2 and 3 classes(floyd) and are successfull then what does that say about his skill level? That hes good but only at 140 pounds. If thats the case then he ain't pound for pound.
Oh its on... im up for a good ol arguement :P

First off hattons first 38 fights were not all easy fights he has won british titles , international, intercontinantal titles at light welter... won a small time world title beat tough domestic and tough foriegn opponents such as Ben tackie, Ray olivera who has fought people like emanuel augustus and beaten vivian harris..vince phillips who has fought vernon forrest, beat kelson pinto, fought sharmba mitchell... the only one previous to hatton to have beaten kostya tszyu, and he beat micky ward!!
eamon mcgee was a tough bastard!!
freddie pendleton was a good veteran who went the distance with pernell whittaker and fought felix trinidad!!
where as floyd has fought some great competition but hasnt been tested since he fought jose louis castillo the first time round! that was 4 years ago baby!!
and no hatton said i want around the ten million dollars mark.... that is around 5 million pounds and that is what tyszu was payed to fight hatton in england, and hatton was the man to beat the man!!
floyd promised in the above interview fine were gona get it on..
and hatton then faced maussa not for an easy fight but because maussa had just upset vivian harris and harris had called him out and thats what people had said fight harris and harris lost.. so hatton just took the title from maussa!!

moving back to 140 should never have happened read my other post...
he was supposed to fight juan lazcano, but he just took the fight because juan pulled out and why not be champ at 147... and he already planned on dropping back down because thats where he wanted to be in the first place! hatton won the fight... it was close but he won and he has nothing to prove at 147..
now if you think about it...
there is no way hatton has been running from floyd! ... think about it... floyd wants titles at every weight he enters but he hasnt beat the real champ for lww or ww while he said right then im fighting hatton...
he could have made it, hatton stayed and ended up fighting maussa..
what was floyds next fight sharmba mitchell? no risk in that fight we knew mitchel was getting stopped by pbf... sharmba mitchell at 147.. so not only did he move up a weight to escape hatton, he took an easy fight too!!...
and yes zab has skills and is former undisputed lww champ... but they gave zab a title back so that he could face floyd and floyd took that title.. another fight for a title which is as floyd says a paper title..
so until floyd beats baldomir he isnt the champ...
and he certainly cant claim to be the champ at 140..
it looks good for him to beat carlos but untill then his last real title was at lightweight.. where he actually fought decent competition... if you ask me i think the jlc fight scared him and he hasnt put his neck out since until this weekend!

Over to you Mr manic
peace
