Exactly. The thing a lot of people mis calculate is size, they just look at the height of a fighter . Height and reach have there advantages, but so does short and powerful.. in Theory its who can utilize their attributes that gives them an advantage, However the truth is the tall fighter has the advantage because of how most referees handle the clinches. Most ref's immediately jump right in and separate the fighters, giving the taller rangier fighter his advantage of distance. When the tall fighter needs distance he just clinches. The short fighter is at a loss. Now with Ref's like Jay Nady , who are vigilant about not allowing the clinch , the short fighter has a fair chance to utilize his assets of getting in close and fighting on the inside. that’s how its supposed to be. A ref should warn about clinches, and when they occur allow some time for the short fighter to free himself and fight out of it. if the clinches are repeated and used as a tact, then the ref starts taking points.
