How did you feel about the ending. I was fucking fuming.
You don’t do that. You just don’t….
Yes it fit with the film as a stand alone but not the franchise

They ran out of Fleming Bond books a long time ago so the series or 'franchise' has no option but to go somewhere else. Having a black female 007 appear in this one I think is an indication that all bets are off and to expect the unexpected.
Maybe it would make sense to go full retro and recreate one of the earlier films and keep it set back in the time they were written. That if handled properly by the right director could be great.
I think it is a fitting end to a great Bond. They gave Craig some funny lines like Moore had, the car/bike chase was class and there were nods to Connery even. The nemesis didn't have enough screen time and the balance of acts was not quite right but I enjoyed it for what it is.
If Bond survives it limits them in future. 007 gives them free reign.

I'm sorry but after 59 years you don't do that you just don't. Yes if the franchise is coming to an end fine but at the end of the credits you get "James Bond Will Return" not 007 will return.
How exactly ?
I'm not buying into an alternative dimension and all that bollox. Bond is a British secret agent and must remain so.
Maybe they'll go back and remake a few of the classics - to be fair films get remade which are a lot more recent than that - but as official films that wouldn't quite work for me as you like some continuity like it's always worked before adapting to the modern world. But you can't do that now so what's their plan ?
Sean, Roger and Timothy would have got off that island ! Hell even George and Pierce might have !
There's an unwritten rule with JB and they fucking broke it

The franchise has moved seamlessly from one Bond to another through seven actors. You've had a Scot, English, Irish actors, with even an Australian wedged in there somewhere.
James Bond has been dark-haired and suave... but has also been blonde and brawny.
Why the sudden need to kill him off? For the sake of inclusivity??
Damn... this is just another example where people can't leave well enough alone. Just like Brosnan gave way to Craig... so could someone else stepped into the role after Craig.

Imagine 'Live and let die' with Idris Elba as Bond, a white Voodoo guy and a Tarantino like soundtrack.. Ha! 'Moonraker' with better fx, imagine 'Goldfinger' set in 1964 with The Kinks, The Stones, Etc and other songs from that year. It could work.
Or it could be a shiteshow like 'The Italian Job' remake.

Goldfinger was the one that sprung to mind but its status as probably the best Bond film means they likely dare not touch it.
Refused to watch Italian job remake....

Craig played the part much longer than any other Bond and I think it was just a way of putting a full stop on that. I didn't stay until the end of the credits and so did not see the 'James Bond will return' at the end. Amazon have now bought MGM and it will be tricky for them to get it right casting wise. Whoever they choose they will be slagged off for getting it wrong.
I don't think you need to have a woman, like Craig says just write better other parts for women and if it is going to remain 'James Bond' rather than 007, it should be a bloke. I also think it should be a Brit, black, white, mixed race whatever going forward. He is an invention of Flemming that bares little resembalance to an M16 officer (they don't have agents) and so there is a lot of leeway there but he needs to be able to get the right mix of action and acting chops, and i think, humour. Moore really camped it up a bit, but even Connery always had good delivery of the funny lines and that needs to be a part, even if only a small part. It is a very stylized series and it is great that they have been so adamant in keeping the brilliant title sequences and pretty consistent classy opening theme songs. Has to be among the most quality franchise series out there and it must be quite daunting thinking how to maintain that moving forward.
