Craig played the part much longer than any other Bond and I think it was just a way of putting a full stop on that. I didn't stay until the end of the credits and so did not see the 'James Bond will return' at the end. Amazon have now bought MGM and it will be tricky for them to get it right casting wise. Whoever they choose they will be slagged off for getting it wrong.

I don't think you need to have a woman, like Craig says just write better other parts for women and if it is going to remain 'James Bond' rather than 007, it should be a bloke. I also think it should be a Brit, black, white, mixed race whatever going forward. He is an invention of Flemming that bares little resembalance to an M16 officer (they don't have agents) and so there is a lot of leeway there but he needs to be able to get the right mix of action and acting chops, and i think, humour. Moore really camped it up a bit, but even Connery always had good delivery of the funny lines and that needs to be a part, even if only a small part. It is a very stylized series and it is great that they have been so adamant in keeping the brilliant title sequences and pretty consistent classy opening theme songs. Has to be among the most quality franchise series out there and it must be quite daunting thinking how to maintain that moving forward.

Not a huge Dr Who fan , although i did like Tom Baker, probably becasue he was who i grew up watching a bit like Moore for Bond, but i can see why you can have a woman Dr Who. The problem was they choose a shite actress who couldn't pull it off and was about as unneccentric as could be. The right casting is crucial and Craig's physicality like Connery was bang on the money, and while you don't need a body builder, a wimpy skinny fella just isn't going to cut the mustard.

Agree wimpy skinny fella does not fit the bill - I'm not keen on Tom Hiddlestone or James Norton doing it for that reason.

I do think given the current climate though they will feel under pressure to opt for a non-white lead. If Craig had quit before this one I was all for Idris Elba doing it but that window of opportunity now missed I reckon as he's now too old - you ideally want someone who's going to do at least 3 if not 4 films which these days is 10 years or so.

It should be a Brit of course but after watching Extraction on Netflix I thought that Chris Hemsworth could pull it off. Can deliver the quips and bring a darker side. I would have said a straight no to him before seeing that film.

Daniel Craig has become my favourite Bond ahead of Connery who went on too long and ruined his legacy.

Skyfall was the best of his films and Casino Royale was a good start to his story line.

I can not watch Moore playing Bond any more after Craig, he is awful.

    Preferred Dalton to Brosnan.

Jason Bourne series made the Bond franchise up their game and bring in Craig.

I do not think they can replace Daniel and must take it in a different direction. Less stoic, more of an IT nerd mixed with Ninja assassin, and hung like a porn actor.

I have to admit that Craig grew on me as the series moved along. At first I didn't like him, because I felt that what he had in physicality (chasing down bad guys through and over construction cranes) he lacked in that suave, debonair manner of previous Bonds.

I especially disliked when the character played by Eva Green totally fooled Bond into the whole "love" thing... and even saved his life after he got poisoned. Too vulnerable for me. The old Bonds were the "love 'em and leave 'em" type who would never get fooled by a woman. Many tried... but all failed. He was just too smooth. Smooth was never a word I could use to describe Craig's portrayal of Bond.

But hey... the films were great and action-packed. I grew to appreciate this new Bond. To me, however... Connery is still #1.
