Kambosos Jr will make the first defence of his WBA, IBF and WBO lightweight titles against WBC champion Devin Haney on June 5.

The undisputed battle could break the record for the biggest attendance for a boxing match in Australia. Manny Pacquiao's shock defeat to hometown hero Jeff Horn is the current record at 51,052 in Brisbane.

Kambosos Jr was originally expected to face Lomachenko before Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Loma has decided to remain in his native to protect his country meaning Haney replaced him as the fighter to face Kambosos Jr.

"There's no fear in George Kambosos or unwillingness to fight the best. I've seen very few fighters in my career that are more insistent than fighting the best," Di Bella exclusively told Planet Sport. "My understanding is he'll have a top trainer in his corner but we're hoping he'll be able to get in," Di Bella said about Bill Haney - Devin's father and trainer - who has been denied entry to Australia due to a drug conviction in 1992.

"We're doing everything in our power to help him get in but if he's unable to then it's clear that Devin is going to go ahead with this fight. "It says a lot about his willingness and desire to be the best so credit to him.

"I expect it to be a great fight - very competitive. They're both boxers but Devin is more the pure boxer and George has more of an aggressive style and I'm expecting a sensational fight."

Should Kambosos Jr come through he won't be short of possibilities in the lightweight division.
Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis are two options but it is Lomachenko who is the front-runner to be next for Kambosos Jr if he beats Haney.

If the 28-year-old opts to move up to 140lbs instead, then a familiar foe could also be in line to face him.

"I'm going one fight at a time but I can see Lomachenko (next), I mean if George is victorious then there are a lot of possibilities," said Di Bella. "Right now, we had a deal with Loma but Loma is currently in Ukraine and the Ukrainian people are still at war so I don't think when he will be available but Loma is obviously one of the best fighters in the world and somebody we were willing to fight him so I would say Loma would be a possibility of course."

"Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, Lomachenko, George, Devin - it's an extremely loaded division but the other interesting part is - so is 140 (division).

"The one weight class up now has Teofimo Lopez, Regis Prograis and Josh Taylor so there'll be no shortages of big fights but nobody is looking past Devin Haney. That rematch at 140 is always a possibility in the future," added Di Bella.

Lopez - who lost to Kambosos Jr via split-decision in November - is hoping to challenge for world honours at junior welterweight. He has targeted Josh Taylor although he is set to take on mandatory challenger Jose Zepeda next so any potential fight would be the end of the year or early 2023.

Just saw Haney interviewed on a TV sports show here in Melbourne, he comes across as a good bloke. I wish him well and hope for a good fight against Kambosos, it won't be easy, but Haney has won some friends down here.

We have a situation where 2 guys are fighting for all the belts and both seem eager to fight all the other top guys. By FAR the two most eager so either way it goes we win. Really excited for this fight.

If Russia’s genocide of Ukraine is winding down so Loma can fight that will keep him there, he’s wanted Loma for years. Or Tank, or Garcia. You know, now that I talk about it I don’t see any of them fighting him even if he is undisputed. 140 makes sense. But I hope not. Too many good fights that could be made at 135. At least there’s the Kambosos rematch to give time for the others to decide to step up.

Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium will host a main event of epic proportions this weekend, as George Kambosos Jr steps out on home turf to fight Devin Haney for undisputed lightweight gold.

Australian Kambosos Jr (20-0, 10 knockouts) holds the WBO, WBA and IBF belts, having dethroned Teofimo Lopez via split decision in November for a career-making win.

Meanwhile, American Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) carries the WBC strap into hostile territory here, looking for a fifth straight successful defence while also bidding to take his opponent’s three titles.

Last time out, Haney outpointed Joseph Diaz in April 2021, with the 23-year-old remaining unbeaten – like Kambosos Jr, 28 – with a unanimous-decision win.

Per Marvel Stadium’s official website, the main card will begin at 1.20pm AEST (4.20am BST) on Sunday 5 June.

That works out to 8.20pm PT, 10.20pm CT and 11.20pm ET on Saturday 4 June.

The main event is expected to follow at approximately 3pm AEST (6am BST) on Sunday.

That equates to 10pm PT on Saturday, but 12am CT and 1am ET on Sunday.

In the UK, Sky Sports will air the event live for its subscribers, who can also stream the fights on the broadcaster’s website and Sky Go app.

In the US, the card will air live on ESPN.

    Full card

George Kambosos Jr vs Devin Haney (WBO, WBA, IBF, WBC lightweight titles)

Jason Maloney vs Aston Palicte (bantamweight)

Junior Fa vs Lucas Browne (heavyweight)

Hemi Ahio vs Christian Ndzie (heavyweight)

David Nyika vs Karim Maatalla (cruiserweight)

Andrew Maloney vs Alexander Espinoza (super-flyweight)

Terry Nickolas vs Lachlan Higgins (middleweight)

Amari Jones vs Ankush Hooda (super-welterweight)

Taylah Robertson vs Sarah Higginson (women’s flyweight)

David Nyika vs Karim Maatalla (cruiserweight)

Yoel Angeloni vs Ken Aitken (welterweight)

Jason Maloney with a monstrous right hand puts Palicte down twice in 3rd round and it's over. Audio in stadium sound really out of whack or the crowd is silent . They're not calling this from studio are they? Good KO for Maloney. Might be another day now before main event take ring . Only half joking. ESPN and Showtime literally taking turns

Espn has drawn this one out massively. As a wise boxing champ once said..it's just ludacrith

Boxing in an Aussie rules football stadium is strange. The field is too big to have a boxing match(bigger than soccer pitch)

Listening to the announcers go on and on about the judges for the Haney-Kambosos fight.

Pleeease. They should save all the "home-cooking" judging talk for the fights where that is really a factor.

I like the plastic lawn chairs on the pitch.
