they should have got ivan drago to do it. the russian studies reckon he generates something like 2000 pounds of pressure per square inch. still couldnt knock rocky out though and he landed hundreds of those babies right on the italian stalion's nogin.

The boxer and the guy from Tai kwan do looked way bigger than the guy from kung fu or karate .. it would be interesting to see exactly how much harder a single person could hit using each technique.

Also martial arts generally favour straight punching at a specific area of the face as demonstrated by the kung-fu guy whereas boxing has a much wider variety of hooks a "swinging" punches as you can see with the boxer (the slight overhand right action). Sorry but this kind of program dressed up as fact to big up boxing pisses me off. I mean boxers are clearly going to generate more force as thats the only part of their body which they strike with and thus train on. We dont need amauterish programs like this. In my opinion all stlyes have their strenghts and weakness'

Sorry just the sheer unscietific approach to the whole thing really pissed me off

How do we know he did ? Were there any actual accurate measurements of his power per square inch recorded. I doudbt it seen as the technology to measure such forces was in its infancy in that period of time. Its probably rumour and word of mouth that got around rather than actual studies, figures and facts. Dont get me wrong i LOVE Bruce Lee, the guy was an absolute god got all his films (Game of Death 2 where he's only in the fight scenes is kinda sad) and he was undoubtedly a great fighter seen as he developed his own style and defeated a karate master with it to legitimise his new style.

having said that the bit about how concussion comes about was interesting, but from a decidedly dodgy program i woudnt take that as fact either, i'd look it up myself to see if it corresponds with general medical consensus.

Sorry to sound like such a nerd but Biology is what im currently doing a degree in and it just pisses me off when programs severely bend the truth or create false scenarios and then pass it off as truth.

The fact that you're getting a degree allows you to walk around with the assumption that you know everything, another thing I just wanted to throw into the mix

i dunno about all that though. if someone's hit right on the chin with a decent shot it doesn't matter on the size of the fella hitting or getting hit. i've seen my mate knock a big rugby lad spark out with one solid shot. the fella was snoring and everything, and my mates no bigger than 10 stone and cant punch for shit whenever i get him on the pads. but obviously it depends on all kinds

Its really nothing to do with me getting a degree in whatever, its just the unscientific approach that was displayed in this video. I dont think im better than anyone else, my sister didnt get 1 GSCE (even im impressed by that lack of motivation haha).

Its really nothing to do with that i know "everything", to be honest i know fuck all about alot of things, boxing for one compared to the extensice knoweldge of the fans on this forum. Its just if your gonna make a program about "punching power" at least do it semi-properly ala Horizon. I dont really care if you take a few liberties if its the name of entertainment but at least set up a reasonably fair scenario.

About Bruce you're right there is not data collected on his punching power same goes for Rocky Marciano but.... we all know that Marciano could punch... Right?

About the program...Well it's a very well respected program 'National Geographics' if I'm not mistaken. IMO thats probably as accurate info. as you can get from a program...

well the rest of the program was not about boxing at all, it showed the good points of all styles, they did a really amazing speed and reaction test with the kung fu guy which he won.

    Thats cricket
