He fought at a time when the art of boxing really meant something. He was taught the method, (hit and don't be hit) he was doing what "Floyd" did 30 years before Floyd entered the ring. The style he developed was based on the left jab, which was to be fast, relentless, accurate, always in the face and body of onrushing opponents and endlessly piling up points. That jab was often conveyed with an unconventional upright fist for machine gun delivery. Exceptionally fast, broad-shouldered and couldn't be hit, a master of the shoulder roll. The fabulous "Fammo".
