"Performative tool" that seems to pretty much sum Musk up. For all his endless money he's just a very needy fella in so many other ways.

Multiple top advertising agencies and media buyers told the Financial Times that nearly all of the big brands they represent have paused spending on the social media platform, citing alarm at Musk’s ad hoc approach to policing content and decision to axe many of its ad sales team.
Musk, meanwhile, has sought to personally call chief executives of some brands that have curbed advertising in order to berate them, according to one senior industry figure, leading others to instead reduce their spend to the bare minimum required so as to avoid further confrontation with the billionaire entrepreneur.
After several waves of job cuts and departures, Twitter’s ads business team has shrunk so much that many agencies no longer have any point of contact at the company and have received little to no communication in recent weeks, according to four industry insiders.
Some brands have been unable to get feedback on how previous campaigns have performed because of the staffing shortages, one media buyer said. Others are complaining Twitter’s ads systems have also become buggy, making it difficult or even impossible to run campaigns.
“It is quite unique. The turmoil, the damage, nothing of this magnitude has happened before. Never,” said a senior executive at a big four advertising agency.
“He seems to put off even those advertisers who wanted him to succeed,” another top advertising agency executive said.
Musk is under pressure to draw revenues from Twitter, as he faces $1bn in annual interest payments after loading the company with $13bn of debt to help fund his acquisition of the business.

Yelling at CEOs is just guaranteed to work though.

EU Threatens to Ban Twitter in Europe Unless It Ramps Up Censorship
Infowars.com
November 30th 2022, 2:35 pm
EU industry chief Thierry Breton told Musk via video call Wednesday Twitter may face a Europe-wide ban because 'arbitrary' reinstatement of accounts could violate EU's Digital Services Act (DSA).
Musk reportedly told Breton he thought the DSA was 'very sensible.'

Musk now going Qanon.
He knows what he's doing here with Twitter in general is nuts. All of the interaction with far right crazy people. But he can't stop himself from doing it. It could be that he's playing eleven dimensional chess and he's going to graft a media company onto Twitter and create the twenty first century version of Fox News, or something like this, I'm not sure what. Somehow lever Twitter into being some kind of media company that unlike Twitter actually makes money. But then why not spend your fifty five billion and counting on setting up a media company? Why spend it on something that doesn't make money and turn the business you did buy into a potential bankrupcy? If this was part of a grand masterplan why try and back out of buying it and be forced into the purchase by a court? How well do you think proclaiming yourself the tribune of free speech is going to work when you have massive business interests in autocratic countries with millions of people in concentration camps?
Alternatively maybe he doesn't have a clue what he's doing and just can't hide the fact he's quite an extreme righty anymore. He had a divorce recently and there was that flight stewardess he offered a horse to in return for a blowjob. I just googled the horse incident, it became public last May and his response to the whole thing was that it never happened and was politically motivated because he'd recently come out as a Republican. Sounds kinda Trumpy doesn't it. The stewardess was told before this happened that she might want to take a course in giving massages because the boss might ask her for one. That's all very normal eh. The horse thing happened in 2016 and he paid he 250 thousand dollars and made her sign an NDA. The NDA actually worked, it was just a couple of years of journalists investigating Musk that finally found somebody who knew about the incident who could go public about it. Musk's NDAs are apparently extremely well crafted and he has a couple of lawyers who seem to specialise in this stuff working for him. I have a feeling there are a lot more girls like this with NDAs and eventually we're going to find out that he's Harvey Weinstein with better lawyers. At least this would be a good reason for buying Twitter and embracing the Trumpy right wing. He's watching Trump evade endless lawsuits and can see how having a rabid heavily armed fanbase might help sway prosecutorial decisions. However many billions of his own he ends up sinking into Twitter is nothing compared to the prospect of sharing a cell with Harvey.
Also very Trumpy, not paying people you owe money to:
Over the past two weeks, Elon Musk has shaken up Twitter’s legal department, disbanded a council that advised the social media company on safety issues and is continuing to take drastic steps to cut costs.
Mr. Musk appears to be gearing up for legal battles at Twitter, which he purchased in October for $44 billion, according to seven people familiar with internal conversations. He and his team have revamped Twitter’s legal department and pushed out one of his closest advisers in the process. They have also instructed employees to not pay vendors in anticipation of potential litigation, the people said.
To cut costs, Twitter has not paid rent for its San Francisco headquarters or any of its global offices for weeks, three people close to the company said. Twitter has also refused to pay a $197,725 bill for private charter flights made the week of Mr. Musk’s takeover, according to a copy of a lawsuit filed in New Hampshire District Court and obtained by The New York Times.
Twitter’s leaders have also discussed the consequences of denying severance payments to thousands of people who have been laid off since the takeover, two people familiar with the talks said. And Mr. Musk has threatened employees with lawsuits if they talk to the media and “act in a manner contrary to the company’s interest,” according to an internal email sent last Friday.

I still think he's having some kind of slow motion megalomaniacal meltdown and it's going to become more and more of a spectacle.
