Anyways, as for politics..it's all run by "special interest" groups and the average american has very little influence one what goes on.

An good example is gay marriage. Personally, I don't care much about it either way as it doesn't affect me or 99% of americans. But, what do you hear on the news all the time? What do politicians debate all the time? It's because these special interest lobbying groups (ex: gay rights, for/against abortion etc) are that influence politics because they are the ones that make donations and get the candidates they want in office. The average politician represents issues that to the MAJORITY of americans don't mean much. Not to say they aren't important, just that they aren't representative of the majority of the population.

I think the statement "The government which governs best governs least" is true. It's not good for the government to try and micromanage personal issues. But it's growing and becoming more beaucratic everyday.

ON TOP OF ALL OF THIS...

the people that are pretending to be offended by this comment are the same people that see no problem in john mccains capture being spun into hin being a trader
I'm not happy with what Karl Rove has done in the past but I think EVERYONE knows John McCain said things because he was being tortured...the VC had agreed to let him go because his father was an important military figure but McCain declined and was then tortured and made to say things like "I performed the actions of an air pirate" and so on.

    Totally different situations!!!

John Kerry tries to be cute and make Bush out to be an idiot but he has trouble doing that....who has trouble making W look like an idiot

ON TOP of which it took him a while to apologize...he wouldn't admit he was wrong and how's that different from the Republicans?

John McCain - "The people who serve our country do not do so because of any lack of education but because they are patriots and their country called on them in a time of need and they responded."

If guys like Kerry would stop attacking President Bush and start formulating ideas about what to do about our current situation then I may consider voting for them but it's so bad right now it feels like the Democrats just want people to go and die in Iraq so they can say "I told you so".

Sorry for the political rant but this just lit my fuse today! And I am sure many others will be pissed about it too, no matter what they think of W or the war.
think he's preety close to hitting the nail on the head.....since the draft was abolished the military has started losing the higher educated and smarter soilders...In my MOS (JOB) I was a Satellite Communications Operator/Repairman...we were only at 40% staffed...we couldn't keep people in because the military couldn't pay anywhere near what outside companies could pay...but the lower Mos's..I.E. MP's, Supply, Light wheel mechanics, basically any job a re re could do were at full staff.....most people going in aren't going in for the money....they are going in because it's the only place they have a shot at making a decent living for thamselves....they would be burger flippers or gas pumpers if not for the military.....almost 90% of the people in the military don't have a college education...http://www.dod.gov/prhome/poprep2002...ation.htm..see for yourself.....Kerry knows this and I agree...we need to bring back the draft in order to have a better military.....being brave doesn't mean you're smart.....in fact it might mean you're...well you know....

The draft would never work... entirely TOO many people would oppose. It's wishful thinking, kinda like world peace

    that may be so...

but the military just decided to COMPLETLEY drop the intellegence test given to determine if people will be accepted

tehy used to have a cutoff of an iq below 80, and then WW2 came and too many people were failing so they moved it to 75...

    no there is no cutoff

im sure my numbers are flawed but u see what i mean

I understand what you're trying to say but come on Sal....you don't tell the people who are defending your country that they are only doing so because they are stupid.

There is a way to say the war is wrong and a way to make yourself look like a total jackass...John Kerry like MANY politicians seems sooooo disconnected and it's disheartening to the average voter.

Lyle ,didnt he mean it in the way that ,rich educated children dont get put out into the front line?

Insinuating that some basic soldiers from the general population who havent anything to gain from a war or a rebuliding contract are used by people higher up for the shit work.

No if he said that he'd have caught the same ammount of heat seeing how he went to congress against Vietnam (as a soldier) and he married the Heinz Ketchup heiress.

In his prepared speech he was supposed to say that "if you don't get a good education you will get us (the American People) stuck in a situation like Iraq, just ask George Bush."

Yeah, it's funny laughing at a guy who went to fucking YALE....W might not have any common sense but I don't doubt he has SOME mental ability......more so than John Kerry.

My whole thing is that politicians are so into name calling and all that negative bullshit it makes me think "You're both dumbasses why the fuck are you running if you did all this evil stuff the other guy said about you and the same for the other guy".....I look at the ballot and think "Who can screw this up the least"

Oh and the point of John Kerry having Millions and millions of dollars makes him more disconnected...no one can relate to him unless you're a flaming liberal or a millionaire.

What does rich boy George W. Bush do for fun? He goes to Texas and clears brush....even poor people work in the yard

What does John Kerry do for fun? Oh he snow skis, he parasails, wind surfs, all of the stuff fancy rich people do

there is less than 1 officer to 30 soldiers.....next..not many of the national guardsmen are doing this to go to college..in fact many are just leeching off the Govt. which is why they are so unprepared for anything that resembles the military...They are NOT the military....those in the Active ARMY call reservists and national guardsmen "Cannon Fodder".

A few years back, Kerry was to McDonalds for campaigned hype , he was ordering food while the camera's were rolling . the minute the cameras went off . He tossed the food in the trash and went to a 4 star restaurant. What a fake douche bag !
