It's not that I don't think Floyd is talented I just don't think he has taken the oppertunities to show boxing fans just how good he is. Here's a short list of guys he had the chance to/didn't/hasn't fought

I mean not all of these guys are world beaters but they are better than let's say......Victoriano Sosa and Henry Bruseles

remember he was at 130 or 135 until a couple years ago though... So to say he already should have fought DLH, Mosley, Wright, Forrest, Mayorga, etc.. Is kind of silly... Also Pernell Whittaker was long gone by 1997, and still at 147 then, another one that doesn't make any sense... As far as Leija, Barrios, Freitas, Casamayor... Are they really any better than the guys he did beat at 130 or 135?? Castillo and Corrales are pretty much a cut above all of those guys. So basically there are one or two fighters there that you could make an arguement Floyd should have fought... Tszyu and Hatton.. But they fought each other just as Floyd made his debut at 140... Which resulted in Kt retiring.. THen Hatton moved up to welter, asked for 13 million against Floyd, scraped by collazo and moved down to 140. Any fight on there which would have been meaningful for Floyd and would improve his legacy, either couldn't have happened or still could, namely Mosley or DLH. And Im sure he'd like to fight either of them..

Its no secret Floyd ducked Stevie Johnston.

Before or after he faced the guy that beat him twice for the title... And what the hell did Stevie Johnston ever do anyways.. Beat Angel Manfredy in a hard fought decision after Floyd TKOed him in 2 rounds just previously?

It was before and after Castillo upset Johnston that Floyd didn't want the fight.

You know this for a fact I imagine.... I suppose he just saw Castillo as an easier opponent And so what he upset him, he still beat his ass twice.. the first time brutally, second was close but JLC still obviously won the draw was BS.

I agree with Lyle on some of the names, like my boy Mayorga. Now I'll admit there is a good chance that el matador at 147, could have been outboxed, potshotted, and made to look for foolish by Floyd. BUT at his best, around the time he KO'd Lewis and Forrest, a hungry Mayorga would have been a tuff test for Floyd. Certainly tougher than Baldomir considering his explosive power at 147 and near iron chin. Also I believe Forrest around that time would have been even tougher for Floyd, and probably would have beaten him, Mosley too.

These closing years, Floyd has always taken the easy route and used HBO like a whore.
As a matter of fact, I'm glad he caught HBO by surprise with his ranting
and raving at Larry Merchant and his sudden retire comments...
Because he baited HBO into claiming he was the best HBO felt they needed
a "Micheal Jordan" of boxing to "help boxing out these days" ... and they were

No one is saying they are great Starr.....they don't go around saying "I'm going to go down as the best ever, there are no other fighters like me".....so THEREFORE they aren't setting themselves up to be compared to the likes of Pryor and Leonard and so on

It was the first time is seen him fight a full fight, and; maybe it wasn't his best night, (yes he hurt his hand in round 6) but up untill then, he just looked like a Roy Jones Jr wanna be...
