Let us discuss this and compare him to other fighters in similar weight classes.
"Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather Jr. 37(24 KO)-0-0: Greats- I honestly have a hard time finding "GREATS" PBF fought but he has a lot of very good fighters on his record: Corrales, Gatti, Mitchell, Judah, Castillo, Baldomir
"Sugar" Ray Leonard 36 (25 KO)-3-1: Greats - Hearns, Duran, Hagler, Benitez. Good - Camacho, Norris, Mayweather Sr.,
Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor 39(35 KO)-1-0: Greats - Arguello, Cervantes. Good - Kim, Kameda, Johnson.
I honestly think unless Floyd fights Shane Mosely, Oscar De la Hoya, or Winky Wright he'll be on the fringe of being an all-time Great.
Maybe it's because he's just so good, or maybe he just hasn't been in with the best fighters....he should have fought Mosley already and the De la Hoya fight NEEDS to happen....Floyd can't beat those guys IMO, they are too tough to be KO'd and too good of boxers to let themselves be outboxed
Those are a lot of pretty good points there, Lyle. I would consider Terry Norris a "great" on Sugar Ray's record though. I think Floyd will fight Delahoya and at this point in time, he will beat him, outpointing him similarly to the first Mosley-Oscar fight. I gave Oscar the rematch against Sugar Shane, who in my opinion is the last one of the three you mentioned Floyd should fight. Either him or Wright, because i think he would be givin up too much size to Winky Wright. If Floyd retires undefeated world champ you have to take that in consideration too. I think he's hall of fame material. Is he as good as Leonard? Not in my opinion. But he definitely deserves his spot in the Boxing H.O.F.
Castillo prolly biggest name on mayweather list right? first fight took him right to the brink of lossing? how wud that look for mayweather if the likes of hatton, or cotto go blast him out of the ring in 8 or so rounds? to me mayweather needs to beat the hattons, the cottos, not because i think those 2 are particular greats, but the a grat fighters today, and Mr. P4P needs to eally beat them well, either stop, or a good 8-4/7-5 win; now ofc haton/cotto may not wanna fight mayweather, then aint his fault, but i think the hatton fight adleast shud be his next fight if he doesn't fight oscar or sugar shane, he shudnt go out without doing eveyrthing he can to get the hatotn fight done and dusted - he said it aint about the money, its all about the legacy.
What has Cotto done?? Please break down his resume for me and tell me how Floyds greatness runs thru Cotto cause right now I am Laughing my azz off

Cottos done well, he may not have massive names on his resume, but hes still going strong, and doesn't look like retiring anytime soon, the point is of mayweathers legacy; hes only 29, not showing signs of age getting to him, u think herns, duran, lenard, hagler would talk about calling it a day in thier prime when there were alot of young bucks ocming through, some very good fights out there?
In years to come when people look back at this eara, and the fighters around, then there will be big questions on why mayweather didn't fight these guys and even bigger questions if they go on to do great things, and spark out people in better fashion than mayweather ever did. Great fighters are remeberd and will be remeberd for ending it without having any lose ends. Look at hopkins, he took the Taylor fight, he had his 20 defences, he cuda moved up after easterman, won and retired a 2 weight champion - but he took on the young buck, the next big thing at middle, sure he lost it. But he jsut about lost it, everyone knows hopkisn was way past his prime - and these are the things that people look back on and remeber about true greats, legends!
