Pretty lame for a feather missing by close to 4 lbs. Makes you root for Wood and highly question the drive of Lara. Likely over invested in his mule kick power with Wood not even 3 months off brutal ko but an uphill battle for Wood.

Yeh that is odd. Did they just look at him wobblin out and say "nope far too fat mate" and leave it to the sanctioning body or was there a contractual pre weight Lara signed to after standing on the scale? Not his first day abroad and he knows the room. Granted it all sounds shifty. We've seen lots of gamesmanship and belt drops on the scale. Almost sounds like a reverse rehydration clause. But he also needs to understand he's a big risk vs reward type match. For Lara the title trinket is what got him in the door, without it he's a rowdy bar fight you'd like to avoid.
from what i understand the bbboc has a certain percentage from the weight limit that a fighter must be within & mauricio was outside that. the wbc has a thirty day weight check & then a seven day weight check i think. mauricio has fought in the uk a few times so he should have been aware of these mid week weight checks, if they have been used on his previous fights. i can see a need for a seven day weight check but a mid week?

How the hell are we going to cover these 3 boxing events which are on at the same time?
Jamie Robinson v Danny Ball for the English vacant welterweight title looks the most interesting.

Ball scores a knockdown in round 2 and Robinson fights back to survive a stoppage.
