In spite of his being conditioned completely wrong against Vitali he still opened up one of the worst cuts I have ever seen, at least on TV.. Lewis was heaving badly early in the fight and he wasn't sharp with his jab or anything, he was prepared for a completely different fight, and thus he had to fight plodding forwards forcing the action, a way I had never seen him fight before, and he did still open a trech on the guy's face.. I have no doubt that he would have beat Vitali with relative ease at his best, and against Wlad it couldn't possibly be close imo.. Theres no way Wlad wouldn't eat one good right hand and well, he couldn't take it whatsoever.
#1 Everyone bulks up for Vitali too
#2 Kirk is NOT a more physical fighter than Vitali
#3 Lewis was just plain old, not "out of shape" not "under trained", just old
#4 Vitali was planing to fight Leo Nolan or someone of that nature so he had a FAR greater step up in class than Lewis did, Johnson was at least top 20-30 whereas Nolan is a nobody
#5 Lennox has had a history of tough fights with taller fighters especially ones who can jab with him!

-Shannon Briggs
-Evander Holyfield

-Oliver McCall
-Tony Tucker

I'm not saying at Lewis' peak he wouldn't have beaten Vitali but it would still have been a very difficult fight for him.
