I like Spence and felt bad for him last night. Agree that the damage was significant- I wouldn’t want to see him go through a meat grinder again. I don’t see what he can do differently/better next time to force a different result. A beating like that is difficult to bounce back from.

Really is hard to say where Spence is immediately off of this. Cards on the table and as much as I like Spence...guys accepting massive gaps of inactivity says something about their vision. And this wasn’t just taking an L it was a brutal first time experienced beat down. There was almost a slight resignation feel about him leading in last night. And for all the talk about him being naturally bigger and the silly talk about him being on Canelo 3 fight deal it was the core issue of internal fire desire and superior skill of Crawford that trounced all. If it turns out the fight did well we can easily see them run it back. Or Bud fights new mandatory Boots Ennis but highly doubt promotion will do that yet. Either way I’d like to see Spence back before years end..but not against Bud just yet.

As sensational as Crawford was Spence was less than impressive. I think a rematch at any weight is going to look like the first fight. But if Spence doesn't take it he could easily look unimpressive in his 154 comeback fight and all of a sudden nobody wants to see a rematch. He may take the fight just for the payday because there's a good chance he never gets to elite level again.

Spence was already talking rematch after the fight. As the former 3 belt champ, its his prerogative. The contract stated that the loser could activate the rematch clause but it had to be before the end of the year. I don't know if there was a stipulation about weight. Personally, I don't think it matters, it wasnt the power that hurt spence, it was the precision. Spence deserves credit for taking that beating like a man and at the same time he deserves people around him to be honest with him and tell him the truth. For a fighter, that fight took years off his career. Another one with 6 months could put him in pugged out gatekeeper territory, if hes not careful. These are the type of beatings that ruin fighters. By many people's account, it could have been over sooner and Bud toyed with him and carried him a little, but after the 4th Spence was on borrowed time. It might have been his first loss, but it was brutal and Bud said before the fight that Spence would never be the same. Hopefully the people around Spence talk him down this time better than they did about his driving...If he activates the rematch clause, he better get out his bingo cards cause Bud has his number.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Can you come back from such a bad beating like this?

What I read was the loser has thirty days to activate a rematch clause and can pick the weight they fight at. So Spence can have a rematch at 154 if he wants.

Spence should choose heavyweight and both have to weigh over 200lbs by the end of the year, see who is the better binge eater.

Crawford would win. Twenty years from now I can see Spence having progressed from weed to something stronger and looking like the black version of Skinny Pete. Crawford will definitely be fat and happy.
