if terence is going to stay at welter, jaron or eimantas should be next. if he's going to fifty four he should be able to use his wbo belt to become mandatory to timmy

"Breaking: Errol Spence Activates Rematch Clause To Fight Terence Crawford Again"
Ok. So now that Spence has regained his senses, he has decided to activate the rematch clause, probably at 154. Makes sense, and comes as no surprise. Tough to ask Spence to stay with that beatdown as the one and only memory of him vs. Crawford. He probably feels he can at least be more competitive this time around. Although Bud would probably beat him decisively again... a rematch at 154 would make for a compelling fight. But there are more positives about this which have nothing to do with Spence. Forcing a rematch with Crawford will at least for now take Canelo off the radar. Crawford vs Canelo is just BAD for boxing. Not that Canelo and his team would give a shit about that... but it would be bad. Circus bad.
jaron ennis is now the full ibf welterweight champion. not sure if terence vacanted or was stripped. probably means terence won't be fighting at welter again

Welterweight star Terence 'Bud' Crawford is no longer the division's undisputed champion after he was stripped of the IBF championship.
Crawford was stripped of the belt due to his inability to compete in a mandatory title defense against Jaron 'Boots' Ennis because of the rematch clause from his fight against Errol Spence Jr. It means Ennis is elevated from interim champion to full titleholder.
'Bud' dominated rival Spence on July 29 to claim all four welterweight belts but the contract allowed the loser to activate a rematch clause.
'On August 25, the IBF sent a letter to TBC Promotions directing Terence Crawford to begin negotiations with interim Champion Jaron Ennis,' an IBF spokesperson told BoxingScene.com.
'Negotiations were to be concluded by September 24.
'On September 22, the IBF received an email from Harrison Whitman representing Crawford indicating that the agreement for the Spence vs. Crawford bout contains an immediate rematch provision which Errol Spence has exercised.
'As such, Terrence Crawford is unable to engage in negotiations with Jaron Ennis.'
Sanctioning bodies do not generally consider rematch clauses to be a justifiable reason for avoiding mandatory defenses. The IBF's rule 3.B specially prohibits the practice.
'No contract for a Championship contest shall contain any clause or any provision, whatsoever, guaranteeing or in any way assuring or promising either contestant a return Championship contest where such clause or provision interferes with the mandatory defense of a title.
'Based on the forgoing, the IBF has withdrawn recognition of Terence Crawford as the IBF Welterweight world champion,' confirmed the IBF.

Another example of it honestly being pretty much a foregone conclusion, a matter of time knowing the rematch was contracted. It's why I'm always skeptical now when I hear "undisputed" as really it seems to be the last thing the alphabet boyz want. You just sit there waiting for the undisputed to splinter afterwards. It's enough to leave your head spinning. Crazy times right now. On one hand we have "champs" allowed to hibernate on their belt and use them as pillows for years all the while paying step aside fees to some mandatories. Or worse just having a sanctioning body green light and enable the indifference and ignoring a champ's obligations. Then you have Crawford who faced the top threat and vanquished him. But did so knowing Ennis sat as interim champ and mandatory was on deck with the ibf enforcing the rule. Spence rematch in hindsight is now a match very few actually want. Or 'need'. While when you take favoritism out of the equation (good luck today), a Boots vs Crawford showdown is exactly what fans want and should demand. An "undisputed" champion taking on ALL top contenders especially when they are literally a co-champion of sorts. Tough spot. It's definitely politics to a large degree but it's also not unpredictable. Also it's tarnishing Boots who is now receiving a title with the ease of sitting down to take ownership of a new car. Who wants that? Ala Haney, or even Tszyu though circumstances different as Charlo literally avoided his undisputed champions obligation. To "get paid". And how'd that work out. Feels like the strip needed its own thread. But fighters make decisions and move the pieces on the board accordingly. And also, and most importantly...fans overrate and fawn over shiny trinkets much too easily.
