I have a different slant than most guys on this fight. Hearns could hurt Hagler as it showed when he fought him the first time in 1985, problem is that Tommy hurt his right hand early with Marvin rushing in and Tommy landed wildly and hit Hagler awkwardly. I think Hearns and Hagler would have started slower in a rematch fight and it would have given Hearns a chance to unload with more leverage, since Marvin wouldn't have been rushing in as much and Hearns would have had more room to land. Tommy also would have come in a more natural 160 as shown with Shuler. he built himself up. I think Tommy would have come in and started landing his right hand and swelling up Marvin's face and landing his left hook to the body, and maybe stopped Marvin on cuts in round 4 or so..At the end of round one Hagler's face was already swelling in the first fight and Hearns did rock him.. I do not think Tommy could have gone 12 rounds taking Marvin's punches since Marvin was such a good solid puncher, not a one punch hard puncher, but a solid hard puncher. I just think the strategy for Hearns in the second fight would have been to stop Marvin, not to win on points. He hit Marvin very clean and could hit him clean in the first fight. Why would he have boxed if he could land the right hand anytime he wanted.?? I just think the right hand would have found its mark the next fight and possibly done alot of damage and it might not have dropped Marvin, but it would have hurt him enough to let Tommy bust up Marvin and win on points. I think Emanual and Hearns would have tried to stop Marvin in the second fight not win on points. Maybe I am wrong. I hope someone someday asks Emanual about this. .
