Gotta love Kiko. Always goes out and gives it his all . True pro. And just when you expect him to be a journeyman and a name for people on the up, he fucking takes you to war. Top guy.
Former Undisputed 4 belt Prediction champion. Still P4P and People’s Champion.
Chalk another up for the old heads written off way too easily and far too often. Justifiably so after a couple but always comes back. While boxing continues to shoot itself in the foot it's refreshing to see determined crafty vets maximizing opportunity and activity.
Had a fellow hack come and tell me this in the middle of covering a local show. Martinez is like the fricken Highlander. You write him off as an old man and then he takes your head off![]()
First got a look at Martinez when he obliterated Bernard Dunne just over fifteen years ago. Brutal display. Add Gill, Galahad, Booth to that list. He reminds me of Baby Jake who it seemed was over here every other weekend in the 90's bashing up British flyweights.
Martinez was supposed to be done when he fought Frampton the first time. Definitely done when Quigg mullered him. Here he is nearly ten years later, Frampton and Quigg have both retired and Martinez is still winning meaningful fights.
No one would be surprised if he chins out Wood for another World title. If he doesn't, he'll definitely be done. Until he chins the next bloke who isn't quite up to scratch.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

Kiko is one tough man. Hope he made loads of money and is content in retirement. The man deserves it.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Tremendous 'have gloves will travel' road warrior fighter. Wish him nothing but the best and a fruitful and proud retirement.
Martinez seems like the master of the comeback
Whenever he seemed finished he would pull another upset
I hope he enjoys his retirement
Hopefully he can remain within the sport in some capacity
