Marvin never wanted to fight Hearns again and seemed to really not want to at all. I think he felt the power got through it and said, ok that is all I want to deal with that right hand. It would be easy to say Hagler would do the same thing over again, but Hearns was a determined guy and a great fighter. I am not too sure Marvin would win the second fight. He would be favored though since he was the natural middleweight and Hearns was still a welterweight moving up. I saw Hearns fight in the amatuers and he weighed 130 pounds when he was 16.. Then he kept moving up and fought at 139 when he was 17.. The guy was not a natural middleweight despite his height. He was skinny as a rail.

IMO it would be a short fight also maybe 5 rds. or so but Hagler would catch up to him sooner or later.... Hearns could only move for so long...

Who knows. Hearns coming in solid like he did with Shuler might have been totally different. Although Hearns and Hagler both seemed to be diminished as fighters after they fought in 1985. It might have been another slugfest.

Hagler was losing speed fast by 1985.

He was quite slow when he fought Hearns in 85, but by 86, he was almost Frank Bruno like.

I think Hearns would have got on his bike & built up a big lead, but ultimately, the iron jawed bald one would have pressured him into making a mistake & stopped him late on.

Hearns' stamina was not great & the nervous energy he would have expended fighting Hagler again would have sapped his stamina even more.

Cue even more ridiculous excuses from Emmanuel Steward for another one of Tommy's defeats!!!!!

I am not sure Hagler was really alot slower in 1985.. He hit Hearns and Hamsho the fight before that pretty quick. With Hearns he fought a pretty fast guy. With Mugabi I saw the speed diminish, but I think that was because he took a year off after fighting Hearns and lost a little motivation after the big Hearns hype. Then with Ray he was really slow.. 2 years of relative inactivity hurt him.
