Nonsense. Of course Arum hyped him and the hype was rubbish but it's got his name out there. My point is what has he proven? Well he has beaten more top 10 contenders at WW than anyone else in the division(I'm using Ring Mag) and respected writers like Doug Fischer,Steve Kim,Dan Rafael all said he was dangerous waaaaaaaaaaay before he was mentioned as a PBF opponent.


As a "champ" he's got four losses and as weak of a record as everyone screamed Baldomir had. Needless to say the Santos loss is still a sounding board for most of his detractors. While I don't think that Margarito is that great of a fighter technically...I do believe that he is a necessity for Floyd's record.

To say his record as is weak as Baldo's is ridiculous. Kermit Cintron would KTFO BALDO or at least give him a beating! and ok Baldo beat 2 names in Gatti and Judah but Margarito,like I said,has beat lots of top 10 fighters. Also,to mention his 4 losses is misleading to say the least,how old was he when he lost at 147??When was the last time he lost at the weight? And he lost to Santos at 154 in a fight which could have gone either way first and second Santos is HUGE for the weight.


As a fighter, Margarito does have the strengths to give Floyd a fight. The question will be...does have heart and fortitude to take the traditional accumulative beatings that Floyd hands out. I don't believe so...I just don't see him as the fighter to topple Floyd.

Fair enough,the writer has his opinion but I'll tell you 1 thing,it would be much more exciting and interesting than most of Floyd's last fights. I can understand if peeps don't like Tony,that's not my problem but it's when they start saying silly things that it gets annoying like he's only fought bums etc etc. When so many writers and other fighters respect someone like they do Tony(the writers I mentioned above plus Shane Mosley,James Toney etc etc_),people saying he is a bum etc etc sound stupid....

Baldomir beat Gatti and Judah, guys that are FAR better than anyone Margarito or Cintron have ever been in the ring with. You can speculate all you like but to say it as if it's some clear fact or common opinion is bullshit. Cintron hasn't proven much. And then you go on about Margarito beating top 10 fighters PLEASE. He's never fought anyone deserving of a top 10 spot, whether for whatever reason somebody he faced was top 10 is another story, but certainly noone he's fought was really a TRUE contender at welterweight. How can you not see that Margarito's record is no better than Baldomir's?? Baldo hadn't lost in 19 fights, he was the undisputed champion, with wins over Judah, Clottey, and Gatti.. Margarito has the WBO strap which he didn't even beat a champ for, and has defended against nobody's with the exception of a shot Antonio Diaz and Kermit Cintron, who are the only opponents of his I could possibly see being in the top 10.. Maybe six heads was too, but either way anyone knows those guys weren't shat. By the way, Wacko wrote this article.. And I think he knows enough about Margarito and boxing in general..
