Has there ever been a more convincing actor playing a boxer? Daniel Day Lewis and Robert De Niro of course were excellent as La Motta and Flynn and we've all got our favourites. But this was next level. The American dream, the heavyweight champion of the whole World and Weathers played it perfectly. The first two were genuinely brilliant movies and we all fell in love with Rocky of course. But he needed Creed to make that happen and he needed Weathers to be Creed. The way he moved, the way he could throw a punch, the way he could talk. It was as authentic as it gets.

    RIP Champ

Yep. Utterly sad. He probably benefited from being a real-life athlete. I only found out today that he had played linebacker in the NFL, albeit for only one season. Still...

You're right... he was perfect for the part of Apollo Creed. MEGA convincing in his acting, and his boxing.

    R.I.P.

This is is how I imagine God meeting Carl Weathers in heaven

    When men were men

But nowadays millennials think guys like "Timothy Chalamet" should lead the strike team.

Many of friends of stage and screen have come to offer their condolences, from Adam Sandler, to Micheal B Jordan to Dolph Lungen

    To Arnie

And of course Sly went out of his way to do a video

Like many Rocky was one of things that got me into boxing. And Apollo's delivery of “there is no tomorrow” has played in my head every day since I’ve heard it. And I just found out he was due to appear at the Superbowl on Feb 11th.

    RIP Carl "Apollo Creed" Weathers

Apollo was a brilliant character when he plays an exaggerated Muhammed Ali. You could see him holding back when he was running against Rocky on the beach. He had a beautiful jab and hand speed in the film's.

Carl Weathers was funny in Happy Gilmore and fantastic in predator.

He was more recently in Star Wars Mandalorian.

Ken Norton pullled out of rocky with around three weeks to go before filming started.

Carl Weathers was a brilliant actor , with the added bonus of being in great shape. Nobody could’ve played the part better.

He'll always the Master of Disaster Apollo Creed. A rare case of a perfectly cast actor in a 'costar' role that very nearly one upped the lead in many ways. And don't sleep on Action Jackson that 80's punch em up needed a sequel! RIP to one of the great ones.
