Not necessarily. Because “in my opinion” Benavidez was the next best in the division, not Scull, not Morrell. So they shouldn’t be in the shake up for the fight , it should be Benavidez.
If Canelo fought and beat Benavidez, then one of them should be next off the rank.
If Benavidez fought and beat Canelo, Scull or Morrell should be in the shake up to challenge Benavidez for the title.
But we know that wouldn’t be the case, because there would be rematch clauses and other such bollocks.
in my opinion david m was the next best in the division. william scull was also first in line in the mandatory order followed next by david m. when david m moved up along with david b, jaime became the wba mandatory, with william stepping aside. then canelo vacated the ibf belt that william just got. if canelo hadn't of unified then the other champions would have had to make the same mandatories or vacate. blame the sanctioning bodies, they put these guys in the position, although i wanted to see canelo fight david m. the wbc also never made david b mandatory & when he was offered the chance to either keep his interim belt at light heavy or super middle he chose light heavy. fair enough, he's moved on. i agree canelo could have fought him but canelo could have also fought david m who was ahead in the mandatory order

Morrel may have been ahead in the mandatory order, but if Morrell fought Benavidez , who do you think would win?
If you think Morrell, fine. If you think Benavidez, then say no more.
