Something about the wording of the thread title just seems off.
I realize it's all about the "cash cow" aspect of Canelo... but in reality we should be asking ourselves did Canelo deserve a Ward fight. Not the other way around.

The fact that we talk about “poor Andre deserves the payday against Canelo” shows what poor decisions Ward made with his career.
From a Boxing sense, Canelo is not in Ward’s league. But Ward can only blame himself for not earning as much as he should have done.
So, no he never really deserved the payday , he fucked up.

Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
But did he though ?? All the waiting around for Canelo, waiting for him to make up his mind, waiting for him to complete a drugs ban.
Don’t forget he was the B side, so his money wouldn’t have been what Canelo was getting.
If he had told Canelo to go fuck himself and carried on bowling over guys at the rate he was, he would’ve had more fights and his purses would’ve increased each fight as his stock rose.
Meanwhile Canelo’s kudos would’ve decreased because he would’ve run out of bums and would be blamed for ducking GGG.

I've always been a huge GGG fan, and of course the forum's biggest Canelo critic (news flash... right?)
But I'm gonna be totally honest here. First let's dispense with the notion that top-flight boxers like a Golovkin are living in poverty... and can only escape poverty if they get fights with the Cash Cow.
Golovkin could've easily made an even more formidable career for himself, had he not groveled over Canelo and bent to his every whim.
I fully agree with Primo on this point.
Yes... money is a huge driving force in boxing as in any other sport.
But for someone like Golovkin, a likable and willing warrior... legacy is just as important, or at least almost as important. Again... GGG wasn't in danger of going on welfare.
Allowing a fickle, cherry-picking, marinating, coddled, favored-by-judges-and-boxing-orgs, boxing diva to call the shots and deviating your boxing career... is downright frustrating to a GGG fan, and borderline disgusting.
And what did GGG get out of it? A robbery in the 1st fight... a could-go-either-way in the 2nd... and a circus show in the 3rd against a much younger and bigger Canelo.
Golovkin played patsy in the Canelo Is The Face of Boxing show.
To top it off... I criticize GGG for his puzzling show of respect in the ring, particularly in the 1st fight, when at least I thought he could've pushed the issue and maybe gotten Canelo in trouble.
Just like I criticize Bivol for not finishing Canelo off.
So yeah... GGG screwed up.
