A true professional. It is often overlooked that he did not 'learn to fight' in Alaskan toughman contests. On the contrary he polished his skills in over 350 amateur fights. Not naturally physically gifted, he compensated by being very sound technically, always being in shape, and he enjoyed a good fight. May he rest in peace.

. Wasn't pretty in or out of the ring but also underrated cagey and he could box on a higher level that just being "tough". The trilogy with Pazienza will always flash me back, just a genuine hard bitter rivalry but with some measured mutual respect. A little bit at least. Rest in peace Champ and thank you for the memories.
