Phenomenal actor who just absorbed into the role he was playing. Sinister, wholesome or indifferent he just had that ability about him. Maybe cliche but came off as the everyman actor and was never much to flaunt "star power" of the Hollywood thing. Random favs early were one the French Connection, always right at the very top. I remember one called the Conversation that stood out. Just one of those off the wall roles directed by Coppola. Bite the Bullet was good and he killed the smaller role of Polish commander in A Bridge too far. Poseidon Adventure, Mississippi Burning, Unforgiven and Bat-21 were absolutely awesome. Stood out in Uncommon Valor too. One of the very best to ever fill the big screen, rest in peace Gene Hackman.
