Belatedly just sat and watched this as I was away the weekend. I’ve got a theory on this (Surprise surprise!)
    1. We all thought Whyte was in amazing shape, and on the scales he was. And it was uncharacteristic of him to think he could get into that shape by grafting his nuts off more than he has his whole career. So here’s the theory….. I reckon he was on Mounjaro , which explains how he lost the weight, and while he probably trained well because he was lighter and able to, I don’t reckon he trained like a savage, hence the lack of punch resistance.
These weight loss drugs are amazing, but to get the best of them, you can’t let them do all the heavy lifting, you have to work with it. I don’t reckon it would be a banned substance either.
    2. We didn’t see enough of Itauma, but I can’t help thinking he’s the real deal. The way he moves, his punch selection , combinations, nastiness, it’s all there. The only thing we haven’t really seen is if he can take a dig and what his natural reactions/survival instincts are like when he’s in trouble.
But you know what, we might not see that for quite a while, because I’m not sure who is out there that can show us that.
Apart from Usyk , I would put him in with anyone else in the World and not be too worried, because apart from Usyk, let’s be fair, there’s not a lot of quality out there.
Strap yourselves in and prepare for a helluva ride with this guy.

yes he looks good but he hasn't fought anyone that was remotely a test. there's a reason they are talking guys like jermaine franklin next. right now if they fought next i say joseph parker & agit kabayel beat him. i think he beats daniel, if aj is focused i think he wins. martin & lawrence get knocked out. i'd like to see him fight guys like efe ajagba, jared anderson & filip hrgovic to get some work in. andy ruiz would be a good test. even justis would give him a tough fight if his chin holds up

You think he beats Dubois, but would put him in with guys like Franklin and Anderson , who aren’t as good as Dubois?
What I said was if he fought the likes of Parker , I wouldn’t be worried. He might not win , who knows. But I think he could mix it with any of them except Usyk.
And when I said we might not see him tested for a while , it’s a bit like when Mike Tyson was coming through. Everyone said “ he needs a test” “he needs rounds” “we need to see when he gets hit how he reacts” . But by the time we found that out, it was the beginning of the end.

yes i think he beats daniel. i didn't say i would put him in with jermaine franklin, that was a fight that was being mentioned for him. i said i'd like to see him fight guys like efe ajagba, jared anderson & filip hrgovic to get some work in. nothing about them being better than daniel & that's a different discussion. i agree that he can mix it with anyone right now, even oleksandr. winning is a different story. that's why i mentioned a few guys that i think would give him some different things to look at. if filip didn't get cut he would have been perfect next

I don’t disagree with that, but what’s in it for Hrgovic? I mean he still has his own ambitions, he’s not at the stage where he’s gonna be happy with being “a name on Itauma’s CV”

    what’s in it for Hrgovic?

if he hadn't got cut then the fight could have been for the number one spot behind oleksandr & joseph. i don't think much of filip but if he fought moses next i don't think calling it fifty fifty is unreasonable. great chin but terrible skin & concentration

probably won't be jermaine franklin next as he's now fighting on the canelo v terence undercard

Filip Hrgovic is certainly a better boxer with his new legendary trainer Abel Sanchez. His fitness and conditioning is certainly better now. Filip has worked his way up the rankings and will not want to risk that unless he gets paid millions. The same with other fighters who are on the verge of facing Usyk.
