All boxing fights are worth watching and there is no such thing as nothing bouts if you intend to sit and watch the contest.
I would like to see
Dubois v Tyson Fury - Out with the old in with the new
Itauma v AJ - As above
Crawford v Charlo - personality clash
Berlanga v Plant - personality clash
Yarde v Buatsi - local rivalry
Warrington v Wood 2 - bitter local rivalry and good first fight
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

As far as 140 at the time they were literally top contenders themselves. Ward was in top 10 for like three years leading to Gatti. The wins propelled Gatti into winning another championship. And it was arguably one of the top guys in boxing, Mayweather, who was the challenger for Gattis belt in Mayweathers very first PPV main event. One where he made le$$ than Gatti. Gatti didn't have to beat him he 'won' by just being the face for Floyd. Now of course, nooooo one in their right mind gave Gatti a snowballs chance in hell but in the bigger picture of the weird way boxing moves, he was right at the very top then off the trilogy. Boxing gets convoluted like that, belts increasingly are merely transactional. And Ward never pretended to be anything he was not. He was brought in short early career taking a few losses to guys who wouldn't hold a candle to the Gatti version. A major title eluded him sure but it's the Wards of the boxing world that ultimately make the sport what it is and he wasn't without beating top contenders along the way. And as much as I liked Vince Phillips, Micky was royally screwed in that one
.
We all know those rankings are rigged. We have bandwidth's worth of material on this same board that would explain to you how the ranking are rigged. But with the eye test, we know Gatti or Ward could never beat Mayweather, Tyszu, Judah, DLH or Corely, for that matter. Let's be honest.

Thanks man but I have a fair idea on how rankings can be and are often rigged. But I think you're selling guys like Ward short and preference it with the bum label. I always went by the Ring ranks back in the day as they were thru and thru much more down the line and transparent with a voting process, and dare we say, often read thought out and reasonable. Compared to the crooked alphabet soup bodies...they were a real breath of fresh air at least at the time.
All guys you listed we're not contenders at all they were the champions around time of Gatti-Ward. No one ever said they were beating a Tszyu, Oscar, Mayweather or Zab. Pretty much just said that. We know as much because Ward didn't beat Zab in 99' and Gatti was blasted by Oscar in a welterweight division he had no business being in. But by no means does that mean a Ward was not a legit contender and on any given night could 'contend' and compete with other "contenders" of the same time 01,02. He didn't need rigged rankings...hard pill to swallow with a guy with 8,9 losses but he belonged there. Mitchell gets dragged to the brink by Reggie Green in 99, Ward knocked him out same years. And imo and as it played out Leija and corner sure looked like they politicked the Dr and "opted out" vs Ward. Guys like Leija, Harris, Julio, Tackie, Diaz Mitchell, Millet, Bailey, Urkal etc...all were rotating ranked 140 contenders around the time and I don't bat an eye of the thought that on any given night Ward would not simply be overwhelmed and reduced to carrying spit buckets for them. Contend he would. They can't all be super stars holding gold after all.
