So many great stories being shared on phone in talk shows, Social media etc from fans who found him to be as entertaining outside of the ring as inside it. This one from a woman on facebook made me laugh


"I met him a couple of times in Tenerife,dead friendly and was happy chatting and drinking with everyone around him in the bar we were drinking in,I bumped into him a couple of nights later,same bar but he was leaving,he kept saying to me “shhhhh” and then he showed under his jacket,he’d been in to kitchen and pinched the sandwich toaster to take back to his villa to make himself a sandwich when he got it.

He was drunk but very funny,no harm in him at all.

Sorry to the Dubliner for not letting you know what he was doing but I couldn’t stand the thought of him not getting his toasted cheese sarnie !"

Woke up to these news yesterday. Thought it appropriate to post on here before going on to gloat about the Canelo loss.

Ricky Hatton's death came as a complete surprise. Way too young... and way too much life to still live. My heartfelt condolences to his entire family. Hatton was always a gritty, tough fighter... who always came to give his all in the ring. Had a great run at 140. I thought he and Cotto would meet at some point, but it didn't pan out. Respect to him.

Really is a shame. Man was so young and so much life left in front of him. As a stateside fan I remember Ricky coming along when consistent exposure from 'across the pond' was becoming reality. And fresh off Hamed and the whole show let's just say he was to many fans quite the contrast. He flashed me back to sitting in Virginia and seeing Nigel Benn for the first time with the ferocity and passion between the ropes. He just jumped off the screen before during and after a fight. The lead ups were always off the charts. He came across like an 'everyman' and easy in his interviews too, quick wit. Boxing lost a genuine article in Ricky far too soon. Rest easy now Champ.

Kell Brook will fight for the first time in four years in February, at a show that will pay tribute to fellow former world champion Ricky Hatton.

Hatton, who died in September aged 46, had announced his return to the ring and was preparing to face UAE fighter Eisa Al Dah in December.

Brook, 39, will now face Hatton's planned opponent in Dubai on 13 February 2026.

Ex-world welterweight champion Brook retired from boxing in May 2022, three months after beating fellow Briton Amir Khan to settle a long-running feud.

He ended his career with a record of 40 wins from 43 professional bouts.

The event's promoters said, external its 'Destiny In The Desert' show "will feature tributes and honour the legendary Ricky Hatton whilst also supporting the newly formed Ricky Hatton Foundation", which has been set up to help people experiencing mental health problems.
