This is a crazy PPV for the USA. Hope Dalton Smith can win but can’t believe they have allowed Matias to be cleared to fight just because they deemed the PED was below a certain level.

I'm not an expert on PED's, so I'll throw out that disclaimer first. I think these thresholds, as in the case of Ostarine, are established in an effort to differentiate between intentional doping, and trace contamination.
Not saying whether that's good or bad.
Just throwing my opinion out there.

This one unfolding as it has just felt a bit off to me. Throwing out the failed test alone is atrocious. But even the way it came out of nowhere literally in the ring post Marias v Puello. There stood Turki ring center and barged in on the post fight interview all but directly telling the champion Matias he will fight Smith next because Turki wants it. But here we are on fight week and the match is literally buried with no platform to air it, no Dazn and stuffed behind a ludicrous PPV wall. It's just terrible promotion of a title fight in a marquee US city and Barclays arena. It should be a decent fight. And I'm not putting on a tinfoil hat onbut something is odd. I'm sure the judging will be fair and square with no controversy at all

Matchroom which is Smith promotion bid 1.6 million but lost to this PPV company who bid 1.9 million. They have not filled the arena for this bout and must be losing money for this event.
Dalton Smith is in for a tough night and Matais just is relentless (wonder how?) but really hope he can pull this off. Credit to Dalton for taking this challenge but so it should be for a world title.

Matias is nothing special. He's whistling in a graveyard as I (and many ppl) thought he lost his last fight to Puello when he won the WBC belt. High volume pressure fighters never age well. He has decent power, but not KO power. He's a volume guy with slow feet, a stiff upper-body and almost no head movement.
The blue print is out on how to beat him. Lots of movement. Paro really exposed that. Can Dalton Smith replicate that ?
The problem Dalton has is that he's a very patient counter puncher who I think waits too long for his opponent to lunge in and make a mistake and that may work against him in the USA and he may give away the early rounds as that running around the ring not throwing anything is gonna work against him with the judges. So when Smith punches, he has to punch with dynamism and at times even bang it out with Mathias and push him bk.
But the bottom line is Smith doesnt have to be an exceptional fighter to win this. He just has to be a good (with a small g) solid world level fighter and that'll get the job done and we don't know how good he is. But to me ? Smith doesn't pass my eye test but neither did Bernard Hopkins. So we'll see.
Verdict ? Matias overwhelms Smith. Coz that's what he is, He's the kinda fighter that can overwhelm you if you're not good enough. A bit like David Aveyesean. So I see Mathias having too much "dog" in him, forcing smith to fight at a pace he doesn't like, forcing smith to bang it out with him when Smith wants clean mid distance Olympic style fight and Mathias will force Smith to quit or KO him but I could be wrong
By the way, it's a good fight but it's NOT a PPV fight. The hell are DAZN doing ?
