Calzaghe dismisses Manfredo boast

I'm hoping that Manfredo beats him. I've always liked Manfredo and even though he did come from a reality show, he has tried to continue to better himself with Freddie Roach, and he has always wanted to be truly respected in the sport. The guy easily could fight some alright boxers in Providence every 3 months and make a bunch of money, but he's trying to do something great. I want to see Manfredo win. JoeCal on the other hand hasn't really fought anybody in a while, Jeff Lacy was green as hell and took a beating, he's trying to get American dollars and respect. But becoming the undisputed champ at 168 would do more for his rep over here than beating Manfredo. Beating Manfredo might increase his visibility in the States though, but is it really worth it? He's losing respect by minute. Also, if JoeCal has a tough fight with Manfredo, it's gonna look really bad for him. People aren't tuning into this fight routing for JoeCal, people are tuning into see if Manfredo is the real deal. Manfredo's expectations are gonna be low for the most part. If Manfredo even puts up a good fight and wins three or four rounds, then it's a huge loss for JoeCal because of his statements about Peter being from the Contender. I'm excited about the fight though just to see how the Contender stacks up against the real thing.

Calzaghe will stop him early....the only thing I can hold onto is that there really will be a super fight to follow it up...

Otherwise the fight makes no sense whatsoever!

Yep as Calzaghe said there is a world of difference between a reality show and a title fight.

That being said it is even more strange that Manfredo gets a shot at the title but shit happens, but I still hope Calzaghe get a easy win an try to unify. No need to waste talent against TV-shows. I guess the next will be a fight against Sylvester Stallone

As humans we tend to look at things for their immediate benefits, but Joe Calzaghe doesnt have a large fanbase in America. Not many Americans are willing to pay to watch the Welshman in action. This fight is going to attract the American causual fans who recognize Peter Manfredo, hes one of the biggest names in boxing right now in America. Seriously if you ask a causal fan to name their favorite boxers you will hear stuff like ODLH, Mike Tyson, Gatti, Mora, Manfredo because the Contender got alot of people into boxing.

This fight is too help the Taylor fight happen in the future.

Thats fine and dandy...But heres the deal Joe should have been doing this Shiz a few years ago..Not when he is 34 has sticks for hands and proclaiming himself only to have a few fights left...

He looks like he is only concerned with 20 defenses and taking a run at Louis..i HONESTLY CANT BLAME HIM FOR CHASING GREATNESS but he has the opportunity to make a shitload of $$$$$$$ and settle the score on who is the best Supermiddle and sign the fight....Now he has an up and coming fight with MANFREDO thats a bummer, here is the risk reward from the way I see it..

1) He fights Kessler and settles the score beating a really goodfighter and stamps the division once and for all showing he is still the roaring Lion running the pack proving SuperMiddle greatness runs through you, all the while getting a bunch of cash for a nites work getting the 20 defenses he strives for securing his legacy ...

2) He fights Peter Manfredo jr who was made popular by a television program that any hardcore fan knows is a joke and not even regarded that highly in the states....Ok so now he risks breaking and ruining his hands further on Manfredo's noggin leaveing his career in doubt and leaving everyone wondering what the hell your taking all these warmup fights for anyway?

To me its simple Fuk or walk....Kessler is the #2 and is calling you out, he has more than earned his shot offering you alot of money to unify and you rather fight some TV reality show Glamour boy hoping to boost your image in the states...Which trust me will backfire on him....

He won't stop him early. Joe will win, but he won't get rid of him before 8. Manfredo can take a punch, and his defense is a hell of alot better than Lacy's. Either way. Joe is a bitch for taking this fight. I hope Peter gets lucky and makes him regret it.

True boxing fan knows boxer are there to box, and let their team pave the best path for them... HBO wanted an american fighter in the ring with him, now they got one. Wonder if you was this disguted when certain americans done all they could to avoide certain brits
