"Still got the fire, still got the legs," ring legend Bernard Hopkins told Fightnews.com. "I'm out of retirement, this is the first announcement. Bernard Hopkins is out of retirement. Bernard Hopkins is going to fight until he can't fight no more. Bernard Hopkins has a good three to four years of boxing to give the world what they need. Boxing right now needs Bernard Hopkins. Boxing needs the personality of Bernard Hopkins, boxing don't need me per say as an athlete but they need my personality. No one in the world does an interview like Bernard Hopkins, no one holds it down like Bernard Hopkins. Love me or hate me. You will get a sound byte whether you agree or disagree with me and at the end of the day when you sit ringside, you know Bernard Hopkins will give a 'Bernard Hopkins' performance."

Let him face Kessler and we would al witness how procted B-Hop has been his entire carerre - my best shot is that he would lose all rounds to Kessler.
Hey, if you aren't Royal the assclown himself, your an idiot, here's a sad click and I hope we don't see you around for very long. KEssler is the one who has been protected, how blind are you fanatics. He has fought a steady diet of no hopers or guys that were once decent contenders.. His breakthrough performance, if anyone would even say he has had one, would be against a very weak and aging champion Markus Beyer, who had already been beaten by mediocre title holders.. I respect the guy's skills and like most everyone I obviously want to see Calzaghe man up and fight him... But that doesn't mean it isn't clear as day that he's moved up slowly and for the most part padded his record in Denmark. He has 40 fights and a couple of decent fighters... Hopkins took big risks early in his career often as a late substitute, he fought Roy Jones at middleweight after 20ish fights with no amatuer background, never had the same kind of hype as Kessler, and yet after 40 fights had a far better resume. Hopkins was never enough of a name to be "protected", he wasn't a popular fighter until late in his career. He perhaps didn't have any outstanding names on his record himself until Trinidad, but he had beaten whoever was put in front of him as a champion, and the difference is he wasn't hand picking those opponents like Kessler..

I dunno about him moving up to heavyweight since his jump up to tarver was the highest he ever went in his career but then again he weighed about 180 on fight night so its not outta the question. Hey if the man can still box, let him box. He's not doing any harm to the sport if he's still a capable fighter.

    good news!! cc brother!
ahh i think this is the way of saying im out of retirement maskaev or no maskaev to be honest..
i think he knew he wanted to stay in the game and was using his retirement to strengthen his chances of landing maskaev...
fair play though.. bernard is completely right!! i need him!! b-hop is b-hop and we wana see him fight till he cant.. and he obviously still can!
i wonder if hes still wanting the heavyweight title or if he fancies making a go of light heavyweight supremacy?
i look forward to seeing what he does!
    Peace

I consider myself to be a big fan of Bernard, but I'm not happy about him coming back to the game.
He went out like a champ schooling Tarver at 40+ years of age. He should leave it at that. I guess fighters just cant quit. Like junkies they need one more fix. He is going to get old one of these nights, and end up losing to a stiff he would of wasted earlier in his career.

Its just a repeat of the same old sad boxing story. A guy who cant accept its over.

yeh i know how you feel man .. but then again..
this isnt roy jones, its not tito trinidad...
bernard is an extraordinary person!! i would not atall be shocked if he dominated for a few more years...
the key to life is knowing when its over.. but bernard is in great shape.. hes not shot..
hes a real throwback he doesnt drink smoke.. he trains to the extremes
im not that sad for bernard cos i know he can do it still!!
    im more excited then worried!
    Peace

Most other fighters when they come close to 40 I think should hang it up, but if b hop really wants to come back I'm not worried at all. He's somewhat of a freak of nature if you want to call it that, every fight he's in superb condition. As for another reincaranation of royal making those "kessler GOD" comments again, b hop smokes kessler I'm pretty sure even at 40+ years old.

no one holds it down like Bernard Hopkins... - I don't understand Gangster wannabe talk, can anyone translate wtf that means in english plz? cheers

you know Bernard Hopkins will give a 'Bernard Hopkins' performance... - lol; the Tarver fight is like the only fight since De la hoya that wasn't boood, and unless he goes back to fighting hand picked fighters his fights will suck and he will losse

At middle, i think Winky would beat him, and beat him well
At SMW Calzaghe would beat him, unsure of kessler, and with JT moving up, well id expect him to win, as hes getting better, and hopkins,w ell just older,
At LH: I think this is the only weight where id favour him to beat the 'best' who seems to be atm Clinton Woods
Cruiserweight: Can't see him beating O'neil Bell
Heavy Weight: I don't think he beats anyone there. He doesn't have the power to really hurt any of them, but they do to him. At around 200 pound you will see his speed decrease, + the extra weight he will be carrying will play a big role in his fittness towards the later rounds 'coz as i said i highly doubt he has the power to stop anyone at Heavy...

People got way way to carried away after he beat Tarver. Tarver was hand picked, over rated and look totaly sh*t and hopkins after loosing 2 fights and thinking it would be his last put on one of those 'special fights' that he wont be able to consistantly do if he comes back. Beating Tarver was a good win for him, but people have to thin about the way he was fighting when he was said to be "p4P king (lol) i mean the fight with Howard easterman? he sucked and that fight went on for 12 long and borring rounds...

Hopkins comes back he either goes back to fighting hand picked fighters, o gets beat badly in pretty much every devision expect for possibly Light Heavy

I agree both of the fights vs. JT were a bit boring/not exciting BUT you can't fully blame B-Hop for that IMO both fighters were there and neither decided to trade punches and or look for the fight.... And once they did one or the other would hugg and even then B-Hop has been very tactical and skilled hes not a punch KO kinda guy... But I do enjoy his ring generalship...

the fight I want to see is Hopkins vs. Toney. I think that fight would be great and Hopkins wouldnt have the experience edge over Toney at all. Maybe the other way around.
