I've only heard the martial arts people refer to using the right hand (for an orthodox fighter) as a right cross. I assume you're talking about the orthodox fighter's power punch. Essentially, they are suppose to be the same, however it depends on who's throwing it.......or who they learned it from, cause I've seen some nasty right hands that haven't even been named yet or decided if they were infact punches. Oh well, we've all been a novice.

For the orthodox novice there is no such thing as a right hook. Ever! The right hook is for the south paw and the advanced orthodox fighter.

For an orthodox boxer. when he is off stance ie right foot forward as when he is pursuing he then is in position to throw a right hook.
