I guess my screename kind of gives away who I'm going to choose.
Pernell didn't spend too much time at 140, but he beat Chavez (the only people who don't think he won are those two judges) in front of an overwhelmingly pro-Chavez crowd.
Tszyu is a great puncher, but Pernell would've outboxed him. He would never have walked in to a big right like Judah did.
Whitaker-Mayweather would be an amazing matchup. Neither of those guys ever fought someone who could match their speed, it would be great to see them face each other. It would be really close, but I'll always take the southpaw who's committed to the jab over the conventional fighter who relies more on hooks and crosses.
I'm too young to know much about Pryor or Benitez, but from the limited clips I've seen of Pryor, Pernell would've outboxed him in my opinion.
And the thing people never mention about Pernell is what a great chin he had. He never had to show it in his prime because he never got hit. But he was a bloated, drug abusing 35-year-old when he fought Tito, and he absorbed all of Tito's best punches for 12 rounds.
